TL;DR: In this paper, the authors pointed out that mobile is not diverging from the other platforms, but rather driving some of the strongest advertising trends and that the trends of all online channels overlap with mobile.
Abstract: There is no field that has experienced a more positive financial impact from mobile technology than advertising. This is evident by billions of dollars in traditional media fleeing to online media, and increasingly to mobile. Yet, it is difficult to distinguish mobile totally from other online advertising approaches. Mobile is certainly not diverging from the other platforms, but rather driving some of the strongest advertising trends. Because the trends of all online channels overlap with mobile, it will be difficult to address mobile without addressing all – then clarifying and exploring how mobile is driving and will continue to drive those trends.

TL;DR: The authors examined whether the presence of earnings strings affects equity research analysts' opinions beyond company fundamentals and found that analysts issue more optimistic forecasts and more favorable stock recommendations for firms that report earnings strings and that this bias results in lower forecast accuracy.
Abstract: Firms that report consecutive earnings increases, called earnings strings, receive an overvaluation from the stock market. We examine whether the presence of earnings strings affects equity research analysts’ opinions beyond company fundamentals. We find that analysts issue more optimistic forecasts and more favorable stock recommendations for firms that report earnings strings and that this bias results in lower forecast accuracy. The bias is greater for longer strings, less skillful analysts, and for firms with poor information environment. Furthermore, we find that management guidance increases the cognitive bias around earnings strings.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the relationship between real GDP, real exchange rate and oil prices using time series data for the period 2000-2010 and found that one of the key channels playing a role in the effect of oil prices on real activity is related to the real effective exchange rate.
Abstract: Kazakhstan possesses extensive natural resources and relies heavily on revenues from the export of primary commodities, in particular petroleum and natural gas. Kazakhstan’s dependence on revenues from the oil sector raises the possibility that the economy is vulnerable to external commodity price fluctuations. The goal of this paper is to examine the relationship between real GDP, real exchange rate and oil prices using time series data for the period 2000–2010. Multivariate VAR analysis and Granger causality tests were carried out using both linear and non-linear specifications of oil price changes. The paper finds evidence of both linear and non-linear impact of oil price shocks on real GDP and real exchange rate. It is found that one of the key channels playing a role in the effect of oil prices on real activity is related to the real effective exchange rate. Though, oil price changes do not have a direct impact on real GDP of Kazakhstan, they indirectly affect it through their effect on real exchange rate. Indeed, results of the Wald, the Granger multivariate causality, and Likelihood Ratio tests indicate that linear price change and all the other oil price transformations are significant for the system as a whole. In particular, asymmetric oil price increases in the non-linear models are found to have positive impact on real GDP growth of a larger magnitude than asymmetric oil price decreases adversely affects real GDP.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors study the small index property and representation of the automorphism group as the union of an increasing chain of proper subsets of a special form, and show that it can be represented as a set of automorphisms.
Abstract: Within the general model-theoretical framework, we study the small index property and representation of the automorphism group as the union of an increasing chain of proper subsets of a special form.

TL;DR: In this article, the role of trade liberalization and regional economic cooperation for sustainable economic growth of the Central Asian countries was discussed, where an economic research paradigm was used to obtain a macro view from the perspectives of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries.
Abstract: This study debates the roles of trade liberalization and regional economic cooperation for the sustainable economic growth of the Central Asian countries. An economic research paradigm was used to obtain a macro view from the perspectives of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries. In general, factors that enhance regional trade development and regional economic integration include improving business environment, increasing trade policy coordination, accelerating trade liberalization, and increasing economic cooperation. Selected policies and practical implications are identified, which facilitate enhancing free trade agreements and regional economic cooperation, coordinating WTO accession, and creating a systematic monitoring organization.
