Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the performance of the Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) system for automatic pulmonary nodule detection in lungs in CT scan images. The CAD system is applied to CT scans collected in a screening program for lung cancer detection. Each scan consists of a sequence of about 300 slices stored in DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) format. All malignant nodules were detected and a very low false-positive detection rate was achieved. The automated extraction of the pulmonary parenchyma in CT images is the most crucial step in a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system. In this paper we describe a method, consisting of appropriate techniques, for the automated identification of the pulmonary volume. The performance is evaluated as a fully automated computerized method for the detection of lung nodules in computed tomography (CT) scans in the identification of lung cancers that may be missed during visual interpretation.

Abstract: This investigation was to evaluate the adsorption capability of activated carbon prepared from Thevetia Peruviana wood for removal of reactivetextile dye (RO4) from aqueous solution. Batch adsorption experiments were performed as a function of initial dye concentration, contact time,temperature and pH. The amount of dye adsorbed increased while increasing the initial concentration and temperature of the solution. Theexperimental data fitted well to Pseudo second order kinetic model with Intra particle diffusion as the rate determining step. Adsorption data fittedwith Langmuir model. The negative value of Gibb’s free energy (∆G°) indicated that the adsorption was spontaneous in nature. The results showedthat the activated carbon of Thevetia Peruviana was suitable for the removal of the reactive dyes from the aqueous solutions. The positive value ofenthalpy (∆H° ) indicated that the adsorption of the selected dyes were endothermic.

Abstract: Recent development has a tremendous growth in the ad-hoc wireless networks. Ad-hoc wireless networks are dynamic topology networks organized by a collection of mobile nodes that utilize multi-hop radio relaying and are capable of operating without the support of any fixed infrastructure. Ad-hoc wireless networks are very useful in emergency operations, collaborative and distributed computing and military applications. Multicasting plays an important role in the ad-hoc wireless networks, where nodes form groups to carry out certain tasks that require point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint voice and data communication. The biggest challenge in the ad-hoc wireless networks is to find an optimized path between the two nodes. In this paper, we present an ant colony based metaheuristic multicast routing protocol for ad-hoc wireless networks, in that we analyzed the performance of dynamic core based multicast routing protocol (DCMP). This approach maps the solution capability of swarm intelligence to mathematical and engineering problems. The DCMP is highly adaptive, efficient and scalable. The performance of these protocols has been examined under realistic scenarios using NS 2, the network simulator tool. Performance has been analyzed for the metrics packet delivery ratio and control overheads with the multicast routing protocol. The proposed ant colony based routing protocol reduce the overheads in routing.
