TL;DR: In this article, two recently emerging mutations in the receptor-binding domain of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, L452R and Y453F, are shown to increase spike stability, virus infectivity, and fusogenicity.

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of polarity, conductivity, electrode geometry and hydrostatic pressure on streamer discharges and possible industrial applications of streamers in liquids, are discussed.
Abstract: Industrial applications using pulsed power technologies have been developed in many fields. One of them is the treatment of exhaust gas by using uniformly produced streamer discharges. Streamer discharges in liquid also generate extremely high electric fields at the tip of streamers, as well as high energy electrons, ozone, other chemically active species, ultraviolet rays and shock waves. All of these may be utilized to sterilize microorganisms and to decompose molecules and materials. Large-volume streamer discharges in water have been produced in order to realize industrial applications. A wire to plane electrode configuration has been used. The discharge in water shows similar optical radiation to that in an atmospheric gas as provided by evidence from still photographs. The influence of polarity, conductivity, electrode geometry and hydrostatic pressure on the streamers in liquid, the mechanism of streamer discharges and possible industrial applications of streamers in liquids, are discussed in the present work.

TL;DR: A review of the industrial applications of pulsed power generators is presented in this paper, where the authors classified industrial applications by application for biological effects, for pulsed streamer discharges in gases, for pulses discharging in liquid or liquid-mixture, and for material processing.
Abstract: A review of mainly the past two years is undertaken of the industrial applications of pulsed power. Repetitively operated pulsed power generators with a moderate peak power have been developed for industrial applications. These generators are reliable and have low maintenance. Development of the pulsed power generators helps promote industrial applications of pulsed power for such things as food processing, medical treatment, water treatment, exhaust gas treatment, ozone generation, engine ignition, ion implantation and others. Here, industrial applications of pulsed power are classified by application for biological effects, for pulsed streamer discharges in gases, for pulsed discharges in liquid or liquid- mixture, and for material processing.

TL;DR: The Bcl11b−/− thymocytes showed unsuccessful recombination of Vβ to Dβ and lacked the pre–T cell receptor (TCR) complex on the cell surface, owing to the absence of Tcrb mRNA expression, which suggests that B cl11b is a key regulator of both differentiation and survival during thymocyte development.
Abstract: The gene Bcl11b, which encodes zinc finger proteins, and its paralog, Bcl11a, are associated with immune-system malignancies. We have generated Bcl11b-deficient mice that show a block at the CD4-CD8- double-negative stage of thymocyte development without any impairment in cells of B- or gammadelta T cell lineages. The Bcl11b-/- thymocytes showed unsuccessful recombination of V(beta) to D(beta) and lacked the pre-T cell receptor (TCR) complex on the cell surface, owing to the absence of Tcrb mRNA expression. In addition, we saw profound apoptosis in the thymus of neonatal Bcl11b-/- mice. These results suggest that Bcl11b is a key regulator of both differentiation and survival during thymocyte development.
