TL;DR: In this article, a poly vanillin (VA) film coated carbon paste electrode (CPE) exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of dopamine (DA) and ascorbic acid (AA) in 0.2M acetate buffer solution at pH 7.
Abstract: Polymerized film of vanillin was prepared on to the surface of carbon paste electrode in alkaline solution by cyclic voltammetric (CV) technique after pretreatment by H2SO4 media. The poly vanillin (VA) film coated carbon paste electrode (CPE) exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of dopamine (DA) and ascorbic acid (AA) in 0.2M acetate buffer solution at pH 7. This modified electrode exhibited a potent and persistent electron-mediating behavior followed by well-separated oxidation peaks towards DA and AA. The modified electrode shows good sensitivity, selectivity and stability and has been applied to the determination of DA and AA

TL;DR: In this article, a simple one-pot reaction of 3-formyl-2-mercaptoquinolines with sodium sulfide and hydrochloric acid in ethanol was proposed.
Abstract: A convenient, efficient, and inexpensive procedure for the synthesis of 3-formyl-2-mercaptoquinolines 2a–l has been developed by a simple one-pot reaction of 3-formyl-2-chloroquinolines 1a–l with sodium sulfide and hydrochloric acid in ethanol. The structures of all the synthesized compounds were elucidated on the basis of elemental analyses and IR, 1 H NMR, and mass spectral data.

TL;DR: The sandwich ELISA can be effectively applied for detection of TM in commercial products available in the market and facilitates the allergen labeling and management for allergenic crustacean food products by both manufacturing and regulatory agencies.
Abstract: Crustacean aquatic products were recognized as allergenic food source and tropomyosin (TM) was identified as putative major allergen. At present, the most effective way to control allergenic incidence was avoidance of causative dietary source. This study reports the development of sandwich ELISA for effective detection of TM in suspected food sources by pairing two TM-specific polyclonal antibodies obtained from different species. The LOD was identified as 6.8 ng mL−1, with high specificity to the TM of shrimp and crab. No cross-reactivity was observed with the TM of fish, poultry, and mammalian. The mean recoveries in food matrices were range from 87.96 to 118.77%, by both intra- and inter-assay systems with coefficients of variation of < 10% and < 25%, respectively. The sandwich ELISA can be effectively applied for detection of TM in commercial products available in the market. It facilitates the allergen labeling and management for allergenic crustacean food products by both manufacturing and regulatory agencies.
