TL;DR: In this article, the corrosion inhibition characteristics of BTMQ and BTCQ were investigated by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and impedance techniques, and the results indicated that the mixed nature of inhibitors obeyed Langmuir's adsorption isotherm.
Abstract: The corrosion inhibition characteristics of acetyl coumarine (AC), bromo acetyl coumarine (BAC) and thiazole derivatives (BTMQ and BTCQ) on the corrosion of zinc in 0·1 M HCl solution were investigated by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and impedance techniques. The inhibition efficiency increased with increase in inhibitor concentration upto 5 ×10 − 4 M, then gave almost same inhibition efficiency. The polarization measurements indicated the mixed nature of inhibitors. The adsorption of compounds obeyed Langmuir’s adsorption isotherm. The thermodynamic functions for adsorption processes were evaluated.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of magnetic field on an unsteady boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a dusty fluid over a stretching surface is investigated, where the fluid is assumed to be viscous and incompressible and the governing partial differential equations are reduced to coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations by similarity transformation.
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of magnetic field on an unsteady boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a dusty fluid over a stretching surface. The fluid is assumed to be viscous and incompressible. The governing partial differential equations are reduced to coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations by similarity transformation. Numerical solutions of these coupled non-linear equations are obtained by using RKF-45 method. The solution is found to be dependent on governing parameters including Hartman number (M), unsteadiness parameter (A), Prandtl number (Pr), dust interaction parameter (β), suction parameter (R) and Eckert number (Ec). Comparison of numerical results is made with previously published results under the special cases, and found to be in good agreement.

TL;DR: The data suggest that IGFBP7, INHBA, STC2 and FHL1 might play an important role in ESCC tumorigenesis, which can be explored in future studies.
Abstract: The pathogenesis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) involves both genetic and environmental factors. Previously, we have carried out gene and protein expression profiling of ESCC using DNA microarrays and mass spectrometry-based quantitative proteomics, respectively. These studies resulted in identification of several potential biomarkers of ESCC, some with known reports of differential expression in the scientific literature and others that were novel observations from our studies. We report systematic validation of selected markers from our studies on a larger cohort of cancer tissue sections by immunohistochemical labeling of tissue microarrays. We have validated expression of insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP7), stanniocalcin 2 (STC2), inhibin beta A (INHBA) and four and a half LIM domains 1 (FHL1). Immunohistochemical labeling with anti-stanniocalcin 2 antibody demonstrated its overexpression in 132/140 (94%) cases, IGFBP7 showed overexpression in 127/140 (91%) cases and overexpression of INHBA was observed in 62/105 (59%) of ESCC cases. In contrast, FHL1 expression was observed only in 12/143 (8%) of ESCC cases suggesting its possible involvement in tumor suppression. These data suggest that IGFBP7, INHBA, STC2 and FHL1 might play an important role in ESCC tumorigenesis, which can be explored in future studies. Overall, our findings open up new avenues for development of novel therapeutics and/or diagnostic approaches in ESCC.

TL;DR: In this paper, PANI and CNT composites were prepared using an oxidative chemical polymerization method with ammonium persulfate and dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid as the oxidizing agent and surfactant, respectively.
Abstract: Polyaniline (PANI) and PANI/CNT (multiwall carbon nanotubes, CNT) composites were prepared using an oxidative chemical polymerization method with ammonium persulfate and dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid as the oxidizing agent and surfactant, respectively. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy spectra illustrate the presence of PANI in the composite and show that some interaction exists between PANI and CNT. Embedding of CNT in the PANI matrix is confirmed by scanning electron micrography. Conductivity of the PANI/CNT composites was higher than that of pure PANI, and the maximum conductivity obtained was 4.44 S/cm at 20 wt.% CNT.
