TL;DR: In this article, the effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior of zinc in the given temperature range from 303-333 K was studied, and activation and thermodynamic adsorption parameters were calculated and discussed.
Abstract: Corrosion inhibition of zinc in 0.1 M HCl by Tenofovir Disproxil Fumarate (TDF) an anti-HIV drug has been investigated by using weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The experimental results suggested the inhibition efficiency increases with the increase in inhibitor concentration up to 10 ppm. Polarization results revealed that TDF acts as a mixed type inhibitor. The effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior of zinc in the given temperature range from 303–333 K was studied. Adsorption of the inhibitor followed the Langmuir isotherm. Activation and thermodynamic adsorption parameters were calculated and discussed.

TL;DR: The dispersion parameters revealed that the population of all the fruit fly species attracted to methyl eugenol-baited traps followed the negative binomial distribution pattern and was highly aggregated or clumped.
Abstract: The spatial distribution of Bactrocera fruit flies in the Goa region (west coast of India) was studied using several dispersion parameters between April 2006 and March 2008 in three ecological zones, viz. coastal, midland and upland. These zones are 10, 25 and 50 km to the east from the coastline of the Arabian Sea at an elevation of 15, 70 and 100 m above mean sea level, respectively. The dispersion parameters revealed that the population of all the fruit fly species attracted to methyl eugenol-baited traps, viz. Bactrocera dorsalis, Bactrocera caryeae, Bactrocera zonata, Bactrocera affinis and Bactrocera correcta, followed the negative binomial distribution pattern and was highly aggregated or clumped.

TL;DR: A simple and efficient two-step hybrid electrochemical-thermal route was developed for the bulk synthesis of CuO nanoparticles using aqueous sodium nitrate electrolyte and Cu electrodes in an undivided cell under galvanostatic mode at room temperature as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A simple and efficient two-step hybrid electrochemical–thermal route was developed for the bulk synthesis of CuO nanoparticles using aqueous sodium nitrate electrolyte and Cu electrodes in an undivided cell under galvanostatic mode at room temperature. The influence of electrolyte concentration on the synthesis of CuO nanoparticles was studied at 1.0 A/dm2 current density. Electrochemically generated precursor was calcined for an hour at different levels of temperature in the range 200–900°C. The calcined samples were characterised by XRD, TG-DTA, XPS, SEM/EDAX, TEM, FT-IR and UV–Vis spectral methods. The crystallite sizes were estimated and the thermal behaviour of as-prepared compound was examined. Rietveld refinement of X-ray data shows results matching the monoclinic structure with the space group of C2/c (no. 15). The TEM result revealed that the particle sizes were in the order of 30–50 nm diameter and 120–200 nm length. The blue shift was noticed in UV–Vis absorption spectra. All samples of CuO exh...

TL;DR: The hepato-somatic index and gonado-Somatic index were found to be higher in a grochemical contaminated sites and acetycholine esterase activity in brain and liver tissues of frogs in contaminated sites were low compared to reference sites, indicating the lower health status of frogs living in coffee plantations that are regularly treated with agrochemicals.
Abstract: This study highlights the health status of frogs in coffee plantations of Western Ghats. Coffee is one of the major commercial crops in the Western Ghats of India. In these plantations, farmers ext...

TL;DR: In this article, the thermal behavior of a porous longitudinal fin in a fully wet circumstance in the existence of convection as well as radiation effect is modeled in the present analysis The thickness of a fin is assumed to vary with the length of the fin.
Abstract: The unsteady thermal behavior of a porous longitudinal fin in a fully wet circumstance in the existence of convection as well as radiation effect is modeled in the present analysis The thickness of the fin is assumed to vary with the length of the fin Therefore, different profiles of the fin such as rectangular, convex, as well as triangular-shaped fin have been considered Darcy’s model is imposed to study porous nature The derived nonlinear partial differential equation is non-dimensionalized and solved numerically with the help of Maple software by the Finite Difference Method The transient thermal response and fin efficiency for diverse values of the significant parameters have been discussed graphically A comparative analysis of three different shaped fins has been performed It is found that the temperature drop rate is faster in triangular fin and efficiency is higher in rectangular fin
