Abstract: Despite improved digital access to scholarly knowledge in recent decades, scholarly communication remains exclusively document-based. In this form, scholarly knowledge is hard to process automatically. We present the first steps towards a knowledge graph based infrastructure that acquires scholarly knowledge in machine actionable form thus enabling new possibilities for scholarly knowledge curation, publication and processing. The primary contribution is to present, evaluate and discuss multi-modal scholarly knowledge acquisition, combining crowdsourced and automated techniques. We present the results of the first user evaluation of the infrastructure with the participants of a recent international conference. Results suggest that users were intrigued by the novelty of the proposed infrastructure and by the possibilities for innovative scholarly knowledge processing it could enable.

Abstract: The aim of this work is to present results of investigations into mixtures of two insulating liquids, recently proposed as alternatives to mineral oil. The mixtures are a combination of the widely available mineral oil and a specific amount of ester liquid, which has similar electrical properties combined with fewer environmental risks but high hygroscopicity. The water saturation limit of esters is more than 40 times larger than that of mineral oils. Esters absorb water vapor from the air in larger quantities than mineral oil, and this hygroscopicity reduces the moisture content in solid insulation due to diffusion from the solid into the liquid, while the dielectric properties of ester liquids are only slightly changed . Although the life of an oil in service depends primarily on its initial quality, service conditions need to be considered also. The investigations have therefore been carried out on unaged mixed liquids as well as on specimens under severe ageing conditions. Pure liquids have also been investigated to provide baseline data for comparison purposes. The first part of the investigation compares the properties of the mixed liquids with those of pure liquids. The second part of the investigation, will evaluate the compatibility of the mixed liquids with insulating papers used in high-voltage transformers.

Abstract: The Laser Ranging Interferometer (LRI) instrument on the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) Follow-On mission has provided the first laser interferometric range measurements between remote spacecraft, separated by approximately 220 km. Autonomous controls that lock the laser frequency to a cavity reference and establish the 5 degrees of freedom two-way laser link between remote spacecraft succeeded on the first attempt. Active beam pointing based on differential wave front sensing compensates spacecraft attitude fluctuations. The LRI has operated continuously without breaks in phase tracking for more than 50 days, and has shown biased range measurements similar to the primary ranging instrument based on microwaves, but with much less noise at a level of 1 nm/sqrt[Hz] at Fourier frequencies above 100 mHz.

Abstract: In this Rapid Communication, a method is proposed to spatially scale up a trapped ultracold gas while conserving the quantum correlations of the initial many-body state. For systems supporting self-similar dynamics, this is achieved by implementing an engineered finite-time quench of the harmonic trap, which induces a frictionless expansion of the gas and acts as a quantum dynamical microscope.
