TL;DR: This paper investigated newcomers' information acquisition about organizational contextual domains from different sources, the relationship between information acquisition and knowledge of domains, relationships among information acquisition from sources, knowledge of domain and socialization outcomes, and shifts in these processes over time.
Abstract: This study investigated newcomers’information acquisition about organizational contextual domains from different sources, the relationship between information acquisition and knowledge of domains, relationships between information acquisition from sources, knowledge of domains and socialization outcomes, and shifts in these processes over time. Questionnaires assessing information acquisition strategies, knowledge and socialization outcomes were completed by 151 new organizational members across a variety of organizations, after an average of 17 weeks on the job and again several months later. Results of the study indicated that newcomers differentially relied on sources to gather information, that different sources were of varying importance for gaining knowledge, and that supervisors, coworkers, task and role mastery were related to the assimilation process of new employees. Research and practical implications of these findings are discussed.

TL;DR: The material CsBi(4)Te(6) has been synthesized and its properties have been studied, and at cryogenic temperatures, the thermoelectric properties appear to match or exceed those of Bi(2-x)Sb(x)Te (3-y)Se(y) alloys.
Abstract: Thermoelectric (Peltier) heat pumps are capable of refrigerating solid or fluid objects, and unlike conventional vapor compressor systems, they can be miniaturized without loss of efficiency. More efficient thermoelectric materials need to be identified, especially for low-temperature applications in electronics and devices. The material CsBi(4)Te(6) has been synthesized and its properties have been studied. When doped appropriately, it exhibits a high thermoelectric figure of merit below room temperature (ZT(max) approximately 0.8 at 225 kelvin). At cryogenic temperatures, the thermoelectric properties of CsBi(4)Te(6) appear to match or exceed those of Bi(2-x)Sb(x)Te(3-y)Se(y) alloys.

TL;DR: In this article, a behavioral approach is used to understand the ex-post maintenance of cross-border marketing partnerships and identify the antecedents of trust and performance in such partnerships.
Abstract: Existing research on international partnerships focuses primarily on the ex ante structuring of interorganizational relationships This study departs from this research by taking a behavioral approach to understand the ex post maintenance of cross-border marketing partnerships A conceptual model is developed by identifying the antecedents of trust and performance in such partnerships The model is empirically tested on a sample of US firms having distributor and licensing relationships with firms from Asia, Europe, and Central/South America Findings support the importance of bilateral relational norms and informal monitoring mechanism in building interorganizational trust and improving market performance of international partnerships
