TL;DR: In this paper, a generalized model for a brushless DC machine consisting of a multiphase synchronous machine with a full-wave bridge rectifier connected to its output terminals is described.
Abstract: A generalized model is described for a brushless DC machine consisting of a multiphase synchronous machine with a full-wave bridge rectifier connected to its output terminals. The state-variable equations for the machine are suitable for numerical integration on a digital computer, and are assembled in a form which permits investigations to be made on the effects of different numbers of armature phase windings and different winding connections. The model has been used in both steady-state and transient studies on a number of generating units, with the detailed information which is provided being beneficial to design engineers. Comparisons presented between predicted and measured results illustrate the validity of the model and the mathematical techniques adopted, and confirm that accurate information on the performance of a brushless generator may be obtained prior to manufacture. >

TL;DR: In this paper, a generic presentation of the large deflection, postbuckling and nonlinear flexural vibration behavior of antisymmetric angle-ply laminated plates is investigated, and a transformation between on-axis and off-axis stiffnesses is presented such that all the stiffnesses, including bending-stretching coupling, in the nonlinear governing equations of angle laminates can be expressed in terms of bounded global constants in orthotropic plates.

TL;DR: In this article, four pyridazine derivatives were synthesized and evaluated as accelerators in natural rubber (NR) mixes, and the rheological characteristics were determined by a Monsanto Rheometer 100.
Abstract: Four pyridazine derivatives were synthesized and evaluated as accelerators in natural rubber (NR) mixes. The rheological characteristics were determined by a Monsanto Rheometer 100. The kinetic constants for the vulcanization reaction in the presence of the synthetic compounds were calculated using the rheometric data. The compounds showed a good accelerating efficiency compared with mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT), which is widely used in rubber industry.

TL;DR: In this article, the virtual work theorem is used to derive the equations of motion for antisymmetric cross-ply laminates in a general state of nonuniform initial stress, where the effects of transverse shear and rotary inertia are included, and the equations are adjusted to a generic form by using appropriate transformations.
Abstract: Equations of motion for antisymmetric cross-ply laminates in a general state of nonuniform initial stress, where the effects of transverse shear and rotary inertia are included, are derived by the virtual work theorem. The equations are adjusted to a generic form by using appropriate transformations. With the help of using the transforma tions, introducing generalized parameters, and employing a similarity parameter, compre hensive solutions are found to this problem; hence, the curves presented in the text are generic rather than specific. The thick plate equations are solved for simply-supported rec tangular antisymmetric cross-ply laminated plates in a state of uniform compressive stress plus a uniform bending stress with both acting in the same direction. The results of the reduced set of equations agree with those obtained by previous investigators.

TL;DR: Evaluating the current freeway surveillance and control system installed along 80 km (50 mi) of the Keelung‐Yangmei section of the Taiwan Freeway indicates that system's benefits from travel‐time reduction, lower vehicle fuel consumption, and incident‐severity reduction greatly exceed the system's costs.
Abstract: This paper evaluates the current freeway surveillance and control system (FSCS) installed along 80 km (50 mi) of the Keelung‐Yangmei section of the Taiwan Freeway. The developed evaluation strategy uses the FREQ8PE simulation model to evaluate the cost‐effectiveness of the FSCS. A 16.25‐km (10.1‐mi) freeway section is selected for the simulation case study. The freeway in this section has many interchanges. It serves not only the traffic between cities but also the urban traffic within the cities. The resulting system benefit‐cost ratio of 2.69 indicates that system's benefits from travel‐time reduction, lower vehicle fuel consumption, and incident‐severity reduction greatly exceed the system's costs.
