Abstract: The excitation spectra of ABC-stacked graphene superlattices are calculated by the gradient approximation. Based on the selection rule, only excitations between the conduction and valence bands of the same pairs are allowed. These excitations occur at the critical points in the energy-wave vector space. Different polarization directions induce different spectra. The spectra of a parallel polarization are stronger than those of a vertical polarization. The strong electron-hole excitations cause special structures in the electron-hole excitation and reflectance spectra. However, only one plasmon peak exists in the loss spectra of the parallel polarization. Some properties are consistent with the experimental measurements.

TL;DR: In this article, a correlator using a gray scale amplitude modulator for an input device and a grey scale phase modulator in the filter plane was constructed using two liquid crystal cells from a commercially available color projection television.
Abstract: We have constructed a correlator using a gray scale amplitude modulator for an input device and a gray scale phase modulator in the filter plane. The spatial light modulators used in the correlator are two of the three liquid crystal cells from a commercially available color projection television. The cells (twisted nematic liquid crystals) may be operated in an amplitude mostly or phase mostly mode by selecting the polarization of the light and the operating bias voltage. We show the Jones matrix analysis of the laboratory measurements and the corresponding operating curves. Signal to noise ratios on the order of 100:1 have been observed for some test objects using simple phase mostly filters.© (1992) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering. TL;DR: In this paper, the magnetic field can make the angular momentum along the longitudinal direction undergo both a large shift and strong coupling, which leads to the destruction of state degeneracy, the change of energy spacing, the alternation of quantization of wave function, the vanishing of periodic Aharonov-Bohm oscillations, and the semiconductor-metal transition (SMT).

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the issue of global content in global coursebooks as manifested in investing features of connectedness, avoiding inappropriacy, and preserving inclusivity.
Abstract: This study aims at exploring the issue of “globality” in global coursebooks as manifested in investing features of connectedness, avoiding inappropriacy, and preserving inclusivity. To do this exploration, two research methods, content analysis and the questionnaire, were adopted. The content of an example of global coursebooks, Headway Intermediate (H/I), in addition to the perception of 251 of its users at Institute Bourguiba for Living Languages (IBLV) were investigated. The results obtained revealed that “globality,” in terms of connectedness, inappropriacy, and inclusivity is partial in H/I as learners’ perceptions of it do not map with the content in the coursebook. This study raises questions about the suitability of global coursebooks to globally diverse learners and reveals the necessity of taking measures in the direction of localizing the content of English as a foreign language (EFL) coursebooks.
