TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method for determining the field of critical frequencies of the ionospheric F2 layer (foF2) using the maps of the total electron content, constructed based on the registration of signals from satellite radio navigation system of the GPS and GLONASS types.
Abstract: The possibility of determining the field of critical frequencies of the ionospheric F2 layer (foF2) using the maps of the total electron content, constructed based on the registration of signals from satellite radio navigation system of the GPS and GLONASS types, is considered. The calculation of foF2 is based on the SPIM (Standard Plasmasphere-Ionosphere Model) model specifying the ionospheric index of solar activity, which is determined at grid points of the map of the total electron content. The proposed method has been verified using the data of the hourly maps of the total electron content in the North American region during September 1–7, 2005. The variations in the critical frequencies for Boulder and Dyess sites, selected from the reconstructed foF2 maps, were compared with the data of the vertical sounding. The average error is ∼10% during the entire period of measurements. The conclusion has been drawn that the proposed method can be used as an ionospheric support of HF radiocommunication in the cases when errors of tenths of MHz in foF2 values are permissible.

TL;DR: This article examines one report of an unusually located dural arteriovenous fistula successfully treated with Onyx using a combination of endovascular adjuvant techniques: pressure cooker and remodeling balloon protection of cerebral artery.
Abstract: This article describes the successful endovascular treatment of a dural arteriovenous fistula of a rare localization (the area of sphenoid bone lesser region). We examine one report of an unusually located dural arteriovenous fistula successfully treated with Onyx (ev3, Irvine, USA) using a combination of endovascular adjuvant techniques: pressure cooker and remodeling balloon protection of cerebral artery. The article includes previously published observations of such fistulas and discusses anatomic features and venous drainage of dural arteriovenous fistulas in the given location.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduce world energy consumption scenarios, primary energy consumption tendencies, global energy consumption structure are presented, threats to sustainable energy future are revealed, and the role of renewables explained.
Abstract: Increasing growth of economic activity conditions increases energy consumption. This chapter introduces world energy consumption scenarios. Primary energy consumption tendencies, global energy consumption structure are presented, threats to sustainable energy future are revealed, and the role of renewables explained. In order to get a better understanding of energy, readers are acquainted with energy resources and energy sources. Such resources as electricity energy and heat production are introduced, primarily energy resources, and both nonrenewable (finite) and renewable are discussed. Special attention is paid to renewable resources, such as hydropower, solar and wind energy, sea tides and low tides, and wood and other plants. The chapter provides basic knowledge required to understand the importance of energy transformation toward sustainability.

TL;DR: The results showed that genotype could be used to obtain a higher score, which could enable early risk prediction and present new possibilities for genome-wide association study analysis in terms of discovering missing heritability.
Abstract: Despite the rise in type 2 diabetes prevalence worldwide, we do not have a method for early risk prediction. The predictive ability of genetic models has been found to be little or negligible so far. In this study, we aimed to develop a better early risk prediction method for type 2 diabetes. Materials and methods: We used phenotypic and genotypic data from the Nurses' Health Study and Health Professionals' Follow-up Study cohorts and analyzed them by using binary logistic regression. Results: Phenotypic variables yielded 70.7% overall correctness and an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.77. With regard to genotype, 798 single nucleotide polymorphisms with P-values of lower than 1.0E-3 yielded 90.0% correctness and an AUC of 0.965. This is the highest score in the literature, even including the scores obtained with phenotypic variables. The additive contributions of phenotype and genotype increased the overall correctness to 92.9% and the AUC to 0.980. Conclusion: Our results showed that genotype could be used to obtain a higher score, which could enable early risk prediction. These findings present new possibilities for genome-wide association study analysis in terms of discovering missing heritability. These results should be confirmed by follow-up studies.

TL;DR: In this paper, a superior method, alumina thin films, soldered the LED lamps to enhance the heat transfer, and the films were fabricated onto 1070 aluminum alloy substrate by plasma spraying, vacuum sputtering and electric plating technologies.
Abstract: Thermal management has the important influence in quantum effect of light emitting diodes (LED) based on printed circuit board (PCB). In the industrial processing, the quality of the thermal dissipation is decided by the gumming technique between the PCB and aluminum plate. Because it transfers the heat from electric device to the aluminum plate, which completely removes the heat. In this study, a superior method, alumina thin films, soldered the LED lamps to enhance the heat transfer. The films were fabricated onto 1070 aluminum alloy substrate by plasma spraying, vacuum sputtering and electric plating technologies. The dielectric coatings were characterized by several subsequent analyses, especially the measurement of thermal resistance. The X-Ray diffraction (XRD) diagram analysis reveals that alumina phases were successfully grown on the individual substrate. Compared to alumina coating fabricated by plasma spraying and electric plating technologies, vacuum sputtering creates low sheet resistivity, high hardness, high critical load, and good thermal conduction of 119 W/m-K.
