TL;DR: In this article, the inhibition of Listeria monocytogenes LMG 10470 occurred due to plantaricin UG1, but not to lactic acid produced by Lactobacillus plantarum UG 1 or its negatie variant (BAC).
Abstract: The inhibition of Listeria monocytogenes LMG 10470 occurred due to plantaricin UG1, but not to lactic acid produced by Lactobacillus plantarum UG 1 or its negatie variant (BAC). Partially purified plantaricin UG 1 had a higher antilisterial activity in vitro and in meat than Lactobacillus plantarum UG1 culture. Plantaricin UG1 activity was higher in brain heart infusion (BHI) broth than in minced meat. The inhibitory effect of plantaricin UG1 against L. monocytogenes LMG10470 was dependent on its concentration. The 22 880 AU/mL appeared to be an ideal meat preservative in this experiment.

TL;DR: The aim has been to find out whether the method of vacuum plasma deposition of SiOx barrier nanocoatings on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) foil used by Aluminium Company of Canada (ALCAN) company within the production of CERAMIS® packaging materials with barrier properties can also be used to increase the resistance of foils from other polymers against the permeation of organic solvents and other toxic liquids.
Abstract: The SiOx barrier nanocoatings have been prepared on selected polymer matrices to increase their resistance against permeation of toxic substances. The aim has been to find out whether the method of vacuum plasma deposition of SiOx barrier nanocoatings on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) foil used by Aluminium Company of Canada (ALCAN) company (ALCAN Packaging Kreuzlingen AG (SA/Ltd., Kreuzlingen, Switzerland) within the production of CERAMIS® packaging materials with barrier properties can also be used to increase the resistance of foils from other polymers against the permeation of organic solvents and other toxic liquids. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) microstructure of SiOx nanocoatings prepared by thermal deposition from SiO in vacuum by the Plasma Assisted Physical Vapour Deposition (PA-PVD) method or vacuum deposition of hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO) by the Plasma-enhanced chemical vapour deposition (PECVD) method have been studied. The microstructure and behavior of samples when exposed to a liquid test substance in relation to the barrier properties is described.

TL;DR: In this paper, a broadband low-profile printed T-shaped monopole antenna is presented, where the central arm is short-circuited to the ground plane to achieve improved impedance matching over a wide frequency range.
Abstract: A broadband low-profile printed T-shaped monopole antenna is presented. It is demonstrated that, by short-circuiting the central arm of a low-profile T-shaped monopole to the ground plane, much improved impedance matching over a wide frequency range can be achieved. A constructed prototype showing a low profile of only 3 mm and a wide bandwidth larger than 1.1 GHz covering the 5.2/5.8-GHz WLAN bands is presented. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. TL;DR: This paper proposes a new Direct Torque Control scheme for induction motors using a three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) voltage source inverter (VSI) and uses a hysteresis comparator to regulate the input voltages of the three- level NPC inverter.
Abstract: In this paper, we present a new Direct Torque Control (DTC) scheme for induction motors using a three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) voltage source inverter (VSI). In order to develop high dynamic performances, we propose a new approach, in which we enhance the responses of the torque and the flux with optimal switching strategies. Serious problems caused by significant fluctuations in the middle point of the three-level inverter. As consequence to these problems, we obtain an asymmetric inverter output voltage with a non-zero average value. Our proposed solution uses a hysteresis comparator to regulate the input voltages of the three-level NPC inverter. An enhanced direct torque control “EDTC” scheme is simulated with DC voltage source balancing for an induction motor. Our obtained results demonstrate high dynamic and stability performances.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focused on relations between radio signal propagation characteristics and temperature changes in D-region after solar X-flare occurrence, and presented temperature dependencies of electron plasma parameters such as frequency, medium conditions for propagation of an electromagnetic wave, and the refractive index.
Abstract: In this paper our attention is focused on relations between radio signal propagation characteristics and temperature changes in D-region after solar X-flare occurrence. We present temperature dependencies of electron plasma frequency, the parameter that describes medium conditions for propagation of an electromagnetic wave, and the refractive index which describes how this wave propagates. As an example for quantitative calculations based on obtained theoretical equations we choose the reaction of the D-region to the solar X-flare occurred on May 5th, 2010. The ionospheric modelling is based on the experimental data obtained by low ionosphere observations using very low frequency radio signal.
