TL;DR: Findings indicate the microbiological safety of most items, except for a mix of dried bovine offal, with 1.3 × 105 cfu/g of SRC, and one mix of dehydrated bovines viscera contaminated with Salmonella, which draws attention to the prevention on handling of pet food at the domestic environment.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the hygienic and sanitary conditions of pet treats from an export industry. The occurrence of Salmonella, enumerated sulfite-reducing Clostridium (SRC), coagulase-positive Staphylococcus (CPS) and total (TC) and thermotolerant coliforms (TTC) was studied. Of the 108 samples analyzed, 22 were contaminated by some microorganism. TC were detected at two samples (3.5 × 101 and 4.5 × 101 colony-forming units [cfu]/g), SRC in 19 samples (1.0 × 101 to 1.3 × 105 cfu/g) and Salmonella spp. at only one sample; CPS and TTC were not detected. These findings indicate the microbiological safety of most items, except for a mix of dried bovine offal, with 1.3 × 105 cfu/g of SRC, and one mix of dehydrated bovine viscera contaminated with Salmonella. The current production processes and the food safety management system are adequate to guarantee the production of microbiologically safe foods, but that some improvements can still be made with regard to cleaning and disinfection and hygiene training. Practical Applications The work draws attention to the prevention on handling of pet food at the domestic environment. Control of bacterial foodborne pathogens remains the preeminent challenge for research in by-products safety. In modern by-products production, considerable progress has been achieved in controlling bacterial foodborne pathogens.

TL;DR: In this paper, a study was conducted on the Serra da Mesa Dam (GO) using orbital images for the period 1998 to 2018 using the Google Earth Engine platform (GEE) in order to obtain the dam surface area (km²) and relate it to the flow, altimetric height and volume of the reservoir over the years.
Abstract: The goal of this study was to assess the temporal dynamics of an accumulation reservoir in an accessible and accurate way. The study was conducted on the Serra da Mesa Dam (GO) using orbital images. To estimate the flat area of the dam surface, Landsat TM and OLI images for the period 1998 to 2018 were used. The images were processed using the Google Earth Engine platform (GEE) in order to obtain the dam surface area (km²) and relate it to the flow, altimetric height and volume of the reservoir over the years. The dam showed constant variation of water since its inception, with a decreasing trend. The highest values of the reservoir measurement metrics were observed in the years coincident with the largest areas of the dam, and inversely proportional to the years of the appearance of new dams upstream. More than 90% of the altimetric height variation of water could be explained by the flat area of the dam. The processing platform using the GEE is effective to provide extensive temporal analysis using a large volume of data in a short time, with accurate and robust results.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the detection of hexamine through pyrohydrolytic splitting, which leads to formaldehyde and ammonia, and then use ammonium chloride to produce volatile aliphatic amines.
Abstract: Along with the discussion of their chemical background descriptions have been given of: 1. Detection of hexamine through pyrohydrolytic splitting, which leads to formaldehyde and ammonia. 2. Detection of hexamine through sintering with ammonium chloride whereby volatile aliphatic amines result. 3. Detection of hexamine through pyrooxidation with benzoyl peroxide or lead dioxide with production of formaldehyde and ammonia. 4. Detection of benzoyl peroxide through pyrooxidation of hexamine with production of formaldehyde. 5. Detection of triphenylphosphine (-arsine, -stibine, -bismuthine) through formation of polyiodides. 6. Detection of mucic acid through pyroammonolytic formation of pyrrole. 7. Detection of salts of cyclohexylsulfamic acid through formation of sulfate in deamination with nitrous acid. 8. Detection of hippuric acid and derivatives through pyrohydrolytic formation of glycine. 9. Detection of anthraquinone and nuclear-substituted derivatives by reduction to red anthrahydroquinones with sodium hydrosulfite. 10. Detection of dyestuffs with anthraquinone structure through reduction by hydrosulfite with production of anthrahydroqinone derivatives.

TL;DR: This paper studied six pantanal alligators (Caiman crocodilus yacare) carcass with goal of rigor mortis process characterization of Ilio-ischiocaudalis muscle during industrial cooling and meat tenderness.
Abstract: This paper studied six pantanal alligators (Caiman crocodilus yacare) carcass with goal of rigor mortis process characterization of Ilio-ischiocaudalis muscle during industrial cooling and meat tenderness. The alligators were randomly assembled and slaughtered at Cooperativa de Criadores do Jacare do Pantanal (COOCRIJAPAN) - Caceres- Mato Grosso After exsanguination, were mensured temperature of chilling room and carcasses, pH and samples were collected for determination the sarcomere length, shear force and cooking loss at different times (0.5, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 24 and 36 hours). The temperature of chilling room varied from 2.6°C (0.5h) to 0.9°C (36h) and the mean carcass temperature from 21.0°C to 4.2°C, respectively. The mean initial pH of the muscle was 6.7 and the final was 5.6. The smallest sarcomere size ocurred at 15 hours after exsanguination (1.5µm). This meat presents shear force lower than 6.0kg.
