Abstract: O comercio de animais e um importante fator de risco para a disseminacao de doencas entre animais e rebanhos. O objetivo do presente estudo foi caracterizar a rede de movimentacao de bovinos em Pernambuco, com base nas guias de trânsito animal (GTAs) de 2012 a 2013, e identificar a intensidade da relacao comercial entre os estabelecimentos. Foram analisadas 737.950 GTAs emitidas, e as movimentacoes de bovinos totalizaram 3.481.185 animais (1.688.585 em 2012 e 1.792.600 em 2013). Um percentual de 52,57% (1.829.907/3.481.185) das movimentacoes de bovinos envolveu entrada ou saida de feiras de gado, indicando que as feiras desempenharam um papel importante na rede. Aproximadamente 20% dos estabelecimentos mais conectados foram responsaveis por aproximadamente 87% das movimentacoes relacionadas as vendas, e 95% das movimentacoes, relacionadas as compras. Considerando o importante papel das feiras e o intenso comercio de bovinos entre as propriedades, medidas de vigilância e controle podem ser mais eficientes se aplicadas em feiras e estabelecimentos altamente conectados, para prevenir a propagacao de doencas infecciosas.

Abstract: Beim Erhitzen trockener Gemische organischer Verbindungen mit Kaliumjodat oder Molybdan(VI)-oxyd erfolgen Redoxreaktionen, wobei Kaliumjodid bzw. Molybdanblau entsteht. Da diese Reaktionsprodukte leicht erkennbar sind, kann die Sinteroxydation in der Tupfelanalyse zum Nachweis von Kohlenstoff und organischen Verbindungen verwendet werden. Die erreichbaren Erfassungsgrenzen (auf Kohlenstoff bezogen) liegen zwischen 0,5 und 8μg.

Abstract: Estudou-se, comparativamente, o grau de disseminacao de tres cepas de virus rabico, duas de origem de cao, Jales e Nigeria, e uma de origem de morcego, DR 19, com perfis antigenicos do nucleocapside distintos. Estas cepas foram inoculadas por via intramuscular, na face interna da coxa, em dois grupos de camundongos, com 21 e 28 dias de idade. Os animais foram mantidos em observacao por um periodo total de 30 dias, e dos animais vitimados pela infeccao, foram coletados diferentes orgaos, musculo lingual, coracao, pulmao, rim e figado, alem do cerebro e da medula espinal, para avaliar-se o grau de disseminacao de cada cepa viral, atraves da prova de imunofluorescencia direta (IFD). Os resultados obtidos evidenciaram que os decalques de cerebro e de medula espinal apresentaram total concordância na prova de IFD, constatando-se as maiores diferencas com as cepas Jales e Nigeria, situando-se a cepa DR 19, intermediariamente, a estas duas. O musculo lingual foi o orgao que apresentou maior frequencia de positividade para ambos os grupos etarios e para as tres cepas virais.

Abstract: Serum analysis has received much attention in regulatory analysis of food-producing animals, especially for anabolic steroids. The possibility of confirming the parent drugs with minimum metabolization enables the detection of intact steroid esters, whose identification represents unequivocal proof of drug administration. This work involved the development and validation of a quantitative LC-MS/MS method to determine 30 steroids and steroid esters in bovine serum. Sensitivity was improved using microwave-assisted chemical derivatization with methoxyamine hydrochloride. The validation was successfully conducted in accordance with the Decision 657/2002/EC guidelines. An in vivo experiment was performed on 12 crossbred steers in which two commercial formulations containing boldenone undecylenate and testosterone propionate were administrated via intramuscular injections. The samples were collected over a period of 120 days, in which both intact esters were identified within 11 days postadministration. 17β-Boldenone was observed after 92 days for 2 steers and 56 days for the other animals. The applicability of a cut-off level to the ratio between 17β-testosterone and epitestosterone was evaluated in an attempt to differentiate testosterone abuse from endogenous production. It could be observed that a calculated ratio above this level is strong evidence of drug administration, although a high false-negative rate was obtained.

Abstract: The baru (Dipteryx alata Vogel, Faboideae Leguminosae) that occurs in Brazil Central is valued by its multiple uses. The objective of this study was to quantify the genetic variability of baru provenances and the genetic progress with the use of different selection strategies. The increase in total height was measured in progeny and provenance test of three years old using experimental random blocks design with plot information of six replications of ten plants per family with row spacing of 3 x 2m. There were no significant differences between the studied provenances and only Santa Vitoria , Capinopolis and Campina Verde showed significativally genetic variability among progenies within provenances. The combined selection provided genetic gains of greater magnitude and accuracy. The low accuracy of the families selection of was mainly due to lack of genetic variability among families within some origins.
