TL;DR: In this paper, a teat is made from a soft plastic, which is connected to a ring of rigid plastic, for fastening to a baby's bottle, the parts being injection moulded together.
Abstract: This procedure makes a teat from a soft plastic, which is connected to a ring of rigid plastic, for fastening to baby's bottle, the parts being injection moulded together. In the novel process, following injection of either ring or teat, a core is retracted, forming a cavity, either within the ring or outside the teat, in the region of the interconnection. The cavity is then filled appropriately, to form the corresponding part, completing the unit and the interconnection, by injection. Pref. the fastening ring is injected, then the core is retracted, forming a cavity inside it. The teat is then injected from within, connecting it to the fastening ring. The core moulding the ring disc interconnection section is retracted, the teat is filled in the cavity formed within the fastening section, by injection. Having injected the ring with an internal thread, the core is rotated back out of it. In an alternative, the teat is first injected then the core is retracted, forming a cavity outside the teat. The cavity is filled to form the ring, which is injected from outside, connecting it to the teat. The core forming the sealing section of the teat is retracted and the fastening ring is then injected-on. The work of injection may be shared by two tools, first injecting a part, transporting it, optionally on the core, to the second tool for completion, whilst a further fist part is being injected, in a continuous cycle.
