Abstract: Fourteen thousand, one Hundred sixthy two slaughtered horses from nine Brazilian states at the FAVA S/A slaughter-house, Araguari, MG; between May, 14th/1987 to May, 10th/1988 and 31.49% had been Gasterophilus positive. During this period were observed positive animals from 7 different states: Mato Grosso do Sul (85.71%); Sao Paulo (75.95%); Parana (65.61%); Goias (44.02%); Mato Grosso (42.03%); Minas Gerais (14.03%); Para (8.33%) and negative animals from 2 other states: Espirito Santo and Rio de Janeiro. Animals from 226 cities had been studied and 77.43% were gasterophilosis positive. The identified species was Gasterophilus nasalis.

Abstract: This work involved the validation of a multiresidue method according to the Normative Instruction 24/2009-MAPA for determining 25 analytes, among fluoroquinolones, sulfonamides and trimethoprim in samples of poultry and porcine kidney. The extraction procedure was based on a QuEChERS approach. A liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was developed using the selected reaction monitoring mode (SRM) and ESI+ ionization. All of the validated figures of merit were evaluated as satisfactory. Accuracy was assessed by recovery studies, varying from 82.7 to 115.5% for porcine kidney and from 91.5 to 110.4% for poultry kidney. Relative standard deviations were lower than 25.5% for porcine kidney, and 29.8% for poultry kidney. Decision limits (CCα) comprised values from 10.37 to 3298.43 µg kg-1 for porcine kidney and 10.08 to 3176.59 µg kg-1 for poultry kidney. Detection capabilities (CCβ) varied from 10.73 to 3396.86 µg kg-1 for porcine kidney and 10.67 to 3253.19 µg kg-1 for poultry kidney. The developed method has been successfully employed in the routine analysis of incurred samples.

Abstract: In the present work were evaluated the effects of 1-MCP on 'Royal Gala' apples stored in refrigerated air and controlled atmosphere. 'Royal Gala' apples were harvested at two ripeness stages and treated with 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) using two concentrations 625 and 1250 nL.L-1 which were applied during 48 hours at temperature of 20 ± 2 oC. The control fruit was only kept in air. After the treatments the apples were stored in either controlled atmosphere 2,1 to 2,3 kPa CO2, 1,8 to 2,0 kPa O2 and 95 ± 0,5 % of relative humidity for 9 months at 0 ± 0,5 oC or in refrigerated air storage at 0,5 ± 0,5 oC and 95 ± 0,5 % of relative humidity, for 8 months. The 1-MCP applications on apples in both storages and ripening stages reduced dramatically the ethylene production. Pulp firmness losses and titratable acidity were also significanthy higher compared to control fruit.
