Listeria spp. E Listeria monocytogenes NA PRODUÇÃO DE SALSICHAS TIPO HOT DOG

Abstract: Listeria monocytogenes is widely distributed in the environment and it has been isolated from food that were associated to outbreaks of high lethality in many countries. Thus, this bacterium represents an important pathogen to the public health. Ready-to-eat products, like cooked stuffed food, within them, frankfurters, are associated to human listeriosis in many countries. Taking into consideration the importance of the subject and the need of more data about it, the occurrence of Listeria spp. and L. monocytogenes in industrial plants, in meat raw materials, in slurry and frankfurters was investigated. These samples were collected in two production plants with SIF (Federal Inspection Service); in one of them GMP, HACCP and SOP were implemented. The results of the 106 microbiological analysis were submitted to the program @Risk to obtain the risk analysis; the mean values results showed that 7 to 9% of the frankfurters in the market may have L. monocytogenes . The analysis indicated that 88 strains of L. monocytogenes were obtained from 106 samples; among them, 76 were collected in the industrial plants that participate in the experiment, and 30 were collected in the market. In serological typification, 95% of these strains were classified as serotypes 4b, 1/2a and 1/2b. Besides the presence of the bacterium in frankfurthers consumed in Brazil and the risk factors associated to this pathogen, the situation concerns because of the lack of epidemiological data, absence of patterns and the deficient information given to the consumer, specially information related to the presence of L. monocytogenes , particularly important to the groups at risk, as well as information related to the importance of heating the product. Inner-Complex Salts of Trivalent Thallium

Abstract: HITHERTO it has seemed that thallium was the only heavy metal with but slight tendency to form water-insoluble normal and inner-complex salts with organic compounds of acid character. Monovalent thallium gave insoluble salts with the mercaptans thioglycollic acid-anilid, thioglycollic acid-β-amino-naphthalid (‘Thionalid')1 and mercaptobenzthiazole2. Of these compounds only the first and second can be considered as inner-complex salts. Since thallium belongs to the same group in the Periodic Table as the inner-complex-forming metals gallium and indium, the existence of inner-complex salts of trivalent thallium was to be expected ; and it has now been found that inner-complex salts of trivalent thallium with nitrosophenylhydroxylamine, α-nitrosonaphthyl-hydroxylamine, 8 hydroxychinoline, 5,7 brom-8 hydroxychinoline and Thionalid can be obtained in the following manner.

Distribuição de anticorpos para herpesvírus bovino 1 em rebanhos bovinos

Abstract: A distribuicao de anticorpos neutralizantes para o herpesvirus bovino 1 (HVB 1) foi estudada em quatro faixas etarias de bovinos, em 21 rebanhos de leite e de corte. Os resultados da sorologia foram analisados e relacionados com as respostas de questionarios aplicados aos responsaveis pelos rebanhos. As taxas de frequencia de anticorpos neutralizantes para o HVB 1 foram comparadas segundo a aptidao e a faixa etaria. Fatores como tipo de manejo e idade dos animais influenciaram na distribuicao de anticorpos para o HVB 1.

Pododermatite séptica em bovinos: evolução clínica da fase inicial

Abstract: This study aimed to describe the clinical signs of the initial phase of septic pododermatitis in thirty female girolando bovines under the same handling care from different farms in State of Goias Following the diagnosis, they were submitted to daily clinical examination of the hoofs during fifteen days It was considered as the end of the initial phase the presence of fistula in interdigital space or when the observation time over It was observed the farm's soil type and the period of the year (if rainy and dryness) During the disease evolution, edema and pain increased in progressive order until skin disruption and fistula formation In 73,33%, the illness envolved the hind limbs In 50,00% it was observed moderate edema and 26,67% intense edema in both limbs Fistula occurred in 83,33% ill animals until sixth day, in 10% between seventh and eleventh days and in 6,67% of the cases it was't observed Fistulation areas were middle point of interdigital space in 63,33%; dorsal region of interdigital space in 16,67% and in coronary corium of the abaxial region of the hoof in 10,00% and in palmar/plantar region between coronary cushion in 3,33% of cases The septic pododermatitis showed the same clinical signs in farms considered in this study and in different periods of the year, differing in time and fistula site The average time from diagnosis and fistulation was five days The more commom site was the middle point of the interdigital space
