TL;DR: Comparing the National Research Council (NRC) 1985 and 2007 small ruminant nutrition recommendations for growing lambs in a tropical setting with tropical feeds found the greater digestibility of nutrients in diets with greater concentrate does not imply an increase in consumption of digestible nutrients.

TL;DR: In this paper, data from 9,963 formularies of equines from Acre State (1986-1996) examined for equine infectious anemia (EIA) by the AGID test were analyzed.
Abstract: Data from 9,963 formularies of equines from Acre State (1986-1996) examined for equine infectious anemia (EIA) by the AGID test were analyzed. The socio-ecological regions in Alto Jurua, Alto Acre and Alto Purus rivers basins showed the highest levels of disease, characterizing an association between these regions and positivity. These risk regions are border areas with the State of Amazonas, Peru and Bolivia, far from the capital city of the State of Acre (Rio Branco) and access by roads is often difficult. The regions Oriental and Rio Branco showed low levels of positivity. No differences were found regarding to animal species, sex, race and age.

TL;DR: A tecnica de eletroforese em gel de poliacrilamida na presenca de dodecil-sulfato de sodio (SDS-PAGE) for comparing amostras de carne suina (lombo) as discussed by the authors, adicionadas de 1,5% of proteinas nao carneas (proteina isolada de soja and concentrado proteico de soro de leite).
Abstract: A legislacao brasileira permite a adicao intencional de proteinas nao carneas em alguns produtos carneos; entretanto, ha poucas tecnicas adaptadas e proprias para controle desses ingredientes.

TL;DR: The objective of this study was to estimate genetic parameters and to evaluate the effects of inbreeding on productive and reproductive traits of dairy Gyr cattle.
Abstract: The objective of this study was to estimate genetic parameters and to evaluate the effects of inbreeding on productive and reproductive traits of dairy Gyr cattle. Single-trait animal models were used to estimate genetic parameters and solutions for inbreeding coefficients for milk (milk 305-d), fat (fat 305-d), protein (protein 305-d), lactose (lactose 305-d), and total solids (TS 305-d) yield up to 305 days of lactation, days in milk (DIM), age at first calving (AFC) and calving intervals (CI). The mean inbreeding coefficient was 2.82%. The models with linear and quadratic effects of inbreeding coefficients fitted the data better than the models without or with only linear effect of inbreeding coefficient for all traits. The increase in inbreeding coefficient caused several losses in productive and reproductive traits of dairy Gyr cattle. Estimates of heritability for milk 305-d, fat 305-d, protein 305-d, lactose 305-d, TS 305-d, DIM, AFC, and CI were 0.28, 0.27, 0.22, 0.21, 0.22, 0.17, 0.20, and 0.10, respectively. It is possible to achieve genetic progress in productive traits (especially in milk 305-d and fat 305-d) and age at first calving in dairy Gyr cattle through selection.
