TL;DR: The possibility of detecting deuterium in the galaxy by observation of a radio spectral line at a frequency of 327 Mc/s has been discussed by Shklovsky as mentioned in this paper, who suggested that the line might be observable in absorption towards the galactic centre, a direction in which the background intensity of continuous radio emission is a maximum, and dispersion of the line by Doppler effect from galactic rotation is a minimum.
Abstract: THE possibility of detecting deuterium in the galaxy by observation of a radio spectral line at a frequency of 327 Mc./s. has been discussed by Shklovsky1. He suggested that the line might be observable in absorption towards the galactic centre, a direction in which the background intensity of continuous radio emission is a maximum, and dispersion of the line by Doppler effect from galactic rotation is a minimum.

TL;DR: A number of applications of balanced double-beam systems are described and their special advantages discussed in this article, where they have been used for the qualitative study of oils and paints and for the detection and identification of materials separated in chromatographic columns or on specially prepared paper chromatograms.
Abstract: A number of applications of balanced double-beam systems are described and their special advantages discussed. Such methods have been used for the qualitative study of oils and paints and for the detection and identification of materials separated in chromatographic columns or on specially prepared paper chromatograms. Applications of such methods to quantitative analysis are also discussed and are illustrated by examples of analyses of cordites and lubricating oils. There are indications that the behaviour of oils undergoing oxidation can be followed in this way.

TL;DR: In this paper, the infra-red spectra of some fully fluorinated hydrocarbons were examined for analytical purposes, and it is not to be expected that the absorption frequencies of any particular structural group will be constant, but nevertheless some regularities have been observed which may be useful.
Abstract: WE have recently examined for analytical purposes the infra-red spectra of some fully fluorinated hydrocarbons. Complex interactions occur in compounds of this type, and it is not to be expected that the absorption frequencies of any particular structural group will be constant: but nevertheless some regularities have been observed which may be useful.

TL;DR: A semi-technical method of preparing crystalline levulinic acid by a process commencing with the hydrolysis of starch in 100 lb. batches is described in this paper.
Abstract: A semi-technical method of preparing crystalline levulinic acid by a process commencing with the hydrolysis of starch in 100 lb. batches is described. Details are also given of large all glass apparatus for evaporating solutions of crude levulinic acid without appreciable carbonization.
