TL;DR: Results of experiments with Chinese word segmentation and information retrieval indicate that accurate segmentation measurably improves retrieval performance.
Abstract: In this paper we present results of experiments with Chinese word segmentation and information retrieval Our experiments with three different word segmentation algorithms indicate that accurate segmentation measurably improves retrieval performance We discuss the evaluation of word segmentation algorithms for the purpose of better indexing segmented texts for retrieval

TL;DR: The authors used a recurrent neural network initialized with features learned via distant supervision on two large unlabeled datasets and trained embeddings of words and phrases with the word2vec skip-gram method, then used those features to learn sentence representations via a hashtag prediction auxiliary task.
Abstract: We describe MITRE's submission to the SemEval-2016 Task 6, Detecting Stance in Tweets. This effort achieved the top score in Task A on supervised stance detection, producing an average F1 score of 67.8 when assessing whether a tweet author was in favor or against a topic. We employed a recurrent neural network initialized with features learned via distant supervision on two large unlabeled datasets. We trained embeddings of words and phrases with the word2vec skip-gram method, then used those features to learn sentence representations via a hashtag prediction auxiliary task. These sentence vectors were then fine-tuned for stance detection on several hundred labeled examples. The result was a high performing system that used transfer learning to maximize the value of the available training data.

TL;DR: This research examines the deployment of an online innovation management platform to execute an annual research and development proposal competition over two cycles of usage and suggests strategies for monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of social media's impact to an existing innovation process within the context of a business strategy.
Abstract: Incorporating social media into the Enterprise is a key opportunity as well as critical challenge facing many organizations today. Tantamount in decision-making about social media implementation is the question of 'value'. Our research examines the deployment of an online innovation management platform to execute an annual research and development proposal competition over two cycles of usage. Our findings suggest strategies for monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of social media's impact to an existing innovation process within the context of a business strategy.

TL;DR: This paper discusses the various perspectives on hybrid simulation by focusing on three aspects: its definition, its purpose and its benefits, with the objective of achieving a convergence of the definition of hybrid simulation.
Abstract: There is a growing trend in the number of M&S studies that report on the use of Hybrid Simulation. However, the meaning and the usage of the term varies considerably. Indeed, the hybrid simulation panel during last year's conference (WSC2016) laid bare the strong views, from the panelists and audience alike, as to what constitutes a hybrid model and what is new? The ensuing debate set the scene for this year's paper, in which we discuss the various perspectives on hybrid simulation by focusing on three aspects: its definition, its purpose and its benefits. We hope this paper will pave the way for further studies on this subject, with the objective of achieving a convergence of the definition of hybrid simulation.

TL;DR: A quick summary of existing measures with reliability and validity data to help researchers select a subjective measure appropriate for their application is provided in this article, where self-rated measures of fatigue are summarized.
Abstract: Objective: The purpose of this article is to provide a quick summary of existing measures with reliability and validity data to help researchers select a subjective measure appropriate for their application. Background: Currently, fatigue is measured through self-rating (asking individuals if they are experiencing fatigue, tiredness, or sleepiness), and calculation of fatigue from self-reported sleep and work patterns.Method: Self-rated measures of fatigue are summarized. Results: Extant fatigue scales include the Brief Fatigue Inventory, Chalder Fatigue Scale, Checklist Individual Strength, Chronic Fatigue Scale, Crew Status Survey (also known as the Samn–Perelli Fatigue Scale), Daytime Sleepiness Scale, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, Fatigue, Anergy, Consciousness, Energized and Sleepiness, Fatigue Assessment Inventory, Fatigue Assessment Scale, Fatigue Impact Scale, Fatigue Severity Scale, Fatigue Symptom Inventory, Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy, Karolinska Sleepiness Scale, Maslach Burnout ...
