Abstract: A large scale display device such as a stadium or advertising display in which a plurality of light emitting elements constituted by cathode-ray tubes are arranged in a plane to display color images and characters. Specifically, light emitting elements are constituted by cathode-ray tubes having three primary color light emitting elements. A drive circuit is provided for each color of each of the light emitting element to selectively turn on and off the light emitting element. The drive circuit has brightness adjusting means for adjusting the intensity of light emitted by each light emitting element. A memory circuit is connected to each drive circuit for supplying a binary control signal to the drive circuit to selectively turn on and off the corresponding light emitting element.

Abstract: By pouring a solution containing hydrolyzable tin and antimony salts into an aqueous dispersion of titanium oxide particles and mixing, the salts are caused to hydrolyze, whereby a uniform and strongly adherent coating layer of antimony-containing tin oxide is formed on the surface of each particle of the titanium oxide. The coated powder thus obtained is non-hygroscopic and non-toxic and exhibits stable electroconductivity. Furthermore, since it can possess excellent whiteness, it is suitable for forming the electroconductive layers of electro-thermosensitive papers and electrostatic recording papers, for use as the antistatic agent of resins, and for other uses.

TL;DR: Nucleotide specificities supported the idea that the catalytic sites are located in the beta subunits and the allosteric sites are Located in the alpha subunits, and suggested that the tight binding sites areLocated in thealpha subunits.
Abstract: The catalytic and allosteric sites of proton translocating adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) were studied by measuring the binding of nucleotides to the ATPase, and its alpha and beta subunits purified from thermophilic bacterium PS3, with a circular dichroic spectrometer. In contrast to mesophilic ATPases, this thermophilic enzmye contained no tightly bound nucleotides, and its subunits were stable after their purification. These properties were advantageous for analyzing both catalytic and allosteric sites. The former site showed rapid and loose binding, but the latter slow (t 1/2 = 1 h, for ADP) and tight binding. When a nucleotide was bound, the beta subunits showed a negative ellipticity at 275 nm corresponding to a tyrosyl residue, while the alpha subunits showed an ellipticity change corresponding to the absorption curve of the bound nucleotide. This difference enabled us to distinguish the binding sites in ATPase. At a low concentration, ADP selectively bound to alpha subunits in the ATPase, while at a high concentration, it bound to both subunits. This finding suggests that the tight binding sites are located in the alpha subunits. Although ADP and ATP bound to both the purified alpha and beta subunits, CTP did not bind to beta but only to alpha subunits, and ITP bound to beta but hardly to alpha. These nucleotide specificities also supported the idea that the catalytic sites are located in the beta subunits and the allosteric sites are located in the alpha subunits.

Abstract: A rectangular array of 6×150 bits is divided into 50 rectangular arrays of 8×3 bits with 2 check bits added, resulting in 50 codes C2. This encoding is executed 50 times to form a rectangular array of 8×150 bits and each of its rows is encoded into a code C1 of 166 bits with 16 check bits added. This encoding is executed eight times to form a codeword of a generalized product code, which includes 8×166 bits and each row following 12 synchronizing bits. Errors are detected in the codes C1 decoded from the codeword to produce erasure information which is utilized to correct the code C2. Then, the original array is reproduced.

TL;DR: Findings suggest a possible role of this protein as the receptor for pyocin S2 in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PML1550.
Abstract: The iron concentration in the growth medium was found to affect the susceptibility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PML1550 to pyocin S2, a bacteriocin. The efficiency of killing by pyocin S2 was very low when the indicator cells were grown in an iron-rich medium. The capacity of these cells to adsorb pyocin S2 was reduced. Cultivation under limitation of iron (1 microM or less) was necessary to produce a fully sensitive cell population. The growth under iron limitation was accompanied by the appearance of four protein components in the outer membrane of the cells. Nine mutants resistant to pyocin S2 were isolated and their outer membranes were analyzed. They all lacked one component (Fe-b protein) as well as the adsorption capacity for pyocin S2. These findings suggest a possible role of this protein as the receptor for pyocin S2.

TL;DR: RNase T1 is the most specific, namely it is specific for guanylate, and is described in most textbooks of biochemistry together with RNase A as important tools for the structural analysis of RNA.
Abstract: Twentytwo years and eleven years, respectively, have passed since we discovered RNases T1 (Sato and Egami 1957) and U2 (Arima et al. 1968). Both enzymes are now quite familiar, described in most textbooks of biochemistry together with RNase A as important tools for the structural analysis of RNA. This is because of their base specificity: RNase A is, as is well known, specific for pyrimidine nucleotides and, on the contrary, RNase U2 is specific for purine nucleotides. RNase T1 is the most specific, namely it is specific for guanylate.

TL;DR: In this article, a variable frequency power supply device supplies an AC power to a squirrel-cage motor through an AC parameter control, where the control receives a command active current resulting from a command torque and a command exciting current to generate a resultant current and its phase.
Abstract: A variable frequency power supply device supplies an AC power to a squirrel-cage motor through an AC parameter control. The control receives a command active current resulting from a command torque and a command exciting current to generate a resultant current and its phase. The command torque is produced from the actual and command motor speeds and the exciting current is caused from the actual motor speed. The control also receives a command frequency determined by the actual motor frequency and a command slip frequency also resulting from the command torque. The control controls the firing phases of thyristors in the power supply device in response to the command current, phase and frequency. The control may generate a voltage for supplying the active current and an exciting voltage to similarly control the firing phases of the thyristors. In the latter case, the exciting voltage may be added with its differential to compensate for a rapid change in active current.
