TL;DR: The detailed clinical features of benign convulsions with mild gastroenteritis (CwG) are revealed, characterized by a cluster of seizures that are sometimes induced by pain and/or crying, although the seizures are rather refractory to antiepileptic treatment.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to reveal the detailed clinical features of benign convulsions with mild gastroenteritis (CwG). We studied 114 consecutive episodes in 105 patients with CwG between January 1995 and March 2000. CwG was defined as when a patient met the following two conditions: (a) seizures accompanied the symptoms of gastroenteritis without clinical signs of dehydration or electrolyte derangement and (b) the body temperature remained less than 38.0 degrees C before and after the seizures. Patients with meningitis, encephalitis/encephalopathy or apparent history of epilepsy were excluded. The age of onset ranged from 8 to 52 months (mean, 21.1 +/- 8.4 months). Six patients (6%) had a family history of afebrile convulsions and seven (7%) had one of febrile convulsions. The average interval between the onset of gastroenteritis and that of seizures was 2.3 +/- 1.1 days (range, 1-6 days). The average number of seizures during a single episode was 2.6 +/- 1.5 (range, 1-7). Two or more seizures occurred in 86 (75%) of the 114 episodes. Seizures induced by pain and/or crying were seen in 35 (43%) of 82 episodes. Antiepileptic drugs were administered for 96 episodes. Seizures did not cease after the administration of one kind of antiepileptic drug in 56 episodes (58%). Epilepsy developed in none of the patients. All patients exhibited normal psychomotor development. CwG is characterized by a cluster of seizures that are sometimes induced by pain and/or crying. The seizures are rather refractory to antiepileptic treatment, although the seizure and development outcomes are good.

TL;DR: A membrane aerated biofilm reactor (MABR), in which O(2) was supplied from the bottom of the biofilm and NH(4)(+), NO(2)(-), NO (3)(-) and pH was operated to investigate the occurrence of simultaneous chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal, nitrification and denitrification, found that an anoxic layer developed in the upper parts of the mature biofilms while an oxic layer was restricted to the deeper parts.

10 Apr 1996TL;DR: In this paper, the remaining battery power is determined based on the accumulated consumption hours of a battery, and the running hours of the battery can be displayed at any given time by using a battery information memory.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to enable electronic apparatuses to display the remaining power of exchangeable batteries at any given time. A battery pack having a battery and an ID generator is attached to an electronic apparatus. The accumulated consumption hours of the battery is stored in a battery information memory for each battery ID. A remaining power detector determines the remaining battery power on the basis of the accumulated consumption hours and displays it on a display unit. Because the remaining battery power is determined based on the consumption hours of a battery, the running hours of a battery can be displayed at any given time.

TL;DR: It is concluded that HAI-1 is not only an inhibitor but also a specific acceptor of active HGFA, acting as a reservoir of this enzyme on the cell surface, to ensure the concentrated pericellular HGFA activity in certain cellular conditions, such as tissue injury and inflammation, via the up-regulated shedding of HGFA·HAi-1 complex.

17 Mar 1988TL;DR: In this paper, a system for maintaining the secrecy of information stored in a multiple-issence IC card was proposed. But the system was not suitable for the use of multiple-authority IC cards.
Abstract: A system for maintaining the secrecy of information stored in a multiple issuer IC card, comprising an IC card which has its memory divided into a plurality of discrete portions, each of which may be accessed only by means of a predetermined different identification code, and a terminal which is used to write an identification code into a portion of the card memory only when it is supplied with an input code which corresponds with an issuer code which was previously stored in that portion of the memory.
