TL;DR: The findings suggest that ryudocan may possess multiple biological functions, such as bFGF modulation, neurite growth promotion, and anticoagulation, via HS-binding effectors in the cellular microenvironment.

TL;DR: Dual AMPA receptor-mediated functions of excitation and disinhibition may ensure transmission of cerebellar CF signals controlling sensorimotor coordination.
Abstract: A single neurotransmitter elicits diverse physiological responses through activation of multiple receptor subtypes and/or heterosynaptic interactions involving distinct synaptic targets. We found that a typical excitatory transmitter released from the climbing fiber (CF) in the cerebellar cortex not only excited Purkinje cells directly but also presynaptically inhibited GABAergic transmission from interneurons converging on the same Purkinje cells. Both homosynaptic and heterosynaptic actions of the CF transmitter (possibly glutamate) were mediated by activation of AMPA receptors. Dual AMPA receptor-mediated functions of excitation and disinhibition may ensure transmission of cerebellar CF signals controlling sensorimotor coordination.

TL;DR: In this paper, electron-microscopical studies revealed abundant appearance of specific microbodies having homogeneous matrix surrounded by single unit membrane in the hydrocarbon-growing cells.
Abstract: Catalase activities of the cells growing onn-alkanes of various strains ofCandida yeasts wer markedly higher than those of the cells growing on glucose, ethanol or acetate. In connection with this, electron-microscopical studies revealed abundant appearance of specific microbodies having homogeneous matrix surrounded by single unit membrane in the hydrocarbon-growing cells. Localization of catalase activity in the microbodies, in addition to the mitochondria, was confirmed by cytochemical treatment of the cells with 3,3′-diaminobenzidine reagent.

20 Mar 1998TL;DR: In this article, a GaN group crystal base member comprising a base substrate, a mask layer partially covering the surface of the base substrate to give a masked region, and a group crystal layer grown thereon to cover the mask layer, which is partially in direct contact with the non-masked region of the substrate, is used for a semiconductor element.
Abstract: A GaN group crystal base member comprising a base substrate, a mask layer partially covering the surface of said base substrate to give a masked region, and a GaN group crystal layer grown thereon to cover the mask layer, which is partially in direct contact with the non-masked region of the base substrate, use thereof for a semiconductor element, manufacturing methods thereof and a method for controlling a dislocation line. The manufacturing method of the present invention is capable of making a part in the GaN group crystal layer, which is above a masked region or non-masked region, have a low dislocation density.
