TL;DR: The results indicate that the levels of VIP, GRP, and NPY are mainly regulated by light stimulation and suggest that peptides in the ventrolateral SCN are involved in the mediation of photic information to the pacemaker.
Abstract: We have determined, by enzyme immunoassay, daily and circadian patterns of the concentrations of three peptides, which are located in the ventrolateral subdivision of the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN): vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP), gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP), and neuropeptide Y (NPY). The contents of VIP and GRP, which are synthesized in the SCN, did not show circadian rhythms in constant darkness (DD). Under light-dark (LD) conditions, GRP content increased and VIP content decreased over the course of the light period and then gradually recovered during the dark period. Responsiveness of these peptides to light suggests that VIP and GRP may transmit visual information on duration of illumination. NPY, which is transported from the intergeniculate leaflet of the lateral geniculate body, showed a circadian rhythm with a peak at circadian time 12 hr in DD. This endogenous rhythm was remarkably modulated by photic stimulation. Under LD conditions, the NPY content in the SCN exhibited a bimodal rhythm with peaks at both the light-dark and dark-light transition points. Thus, NPY may convey visual information on the transitions. All these results indicate that the levels of VIP, GRP, and NPY are mainly regulated by light stimulation and suggest that peptides in the ventrolateral SCN are involved in the mediation of photic information to the pacemaker.

TL;DR: A new rapid diagnostic method by using a chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay that allowed making automated measurements in a shorter time was developed, suggesting that presepsin values can serve as a parameter that closely reflects the pathology.

TL;DR: The identification of a human multiprotein complex (WINAC) that directly interacts with the vitamin D receptor (VDR) through the Williams syndrome transcription factor (WSTF) suggests that WINAC dysfunction contributes to Williams syndrome, which could therefore be considered, at least in part, a chromatin-remodeling factor disease.

TL;DR: In this paper, a roll control quantity determined in accordance with the relationship between a vehicle velocity and a steering angular velocity, i.e., inlet solenoid valve and exhaust valve, is controlled in a vehicle suspension apparatus, thereby controlling the roll of a vehicle.
Abstract: Wheel suspension units each having fluid spring chambers are arranged in a vehicle suspension apparatus. A roll control quantity determined in accordance with the relationship between a vehicle velocity and a steering angular velocity, i.e., inlet solenoid valves and exhaust solenoid valves, are controlled in accordance with a solenoid ON/OFF time, thereby controlling the roll of a vehicle.

TL;DR: Here the authors begin to define 16S rRNA function by localising the major conserved regions in the molecule through a comparative analysis of 27 prokaryotic 16 S rRNA primary structures.
Abstract: THERE is no doubt that the large ribosomal RNAs play specific roles in ribosome function1. Yet the thrust of experimentation during the past 5 years indicates clearly that the biologist tends to view these roles as structural, function being reserved by and large for the ribosomal protein components2,3. Whether or not this prejudice can be maintained remains to be seen. In any case, the existence of an approximate sequence for a 16S rRNA provides a basis for detailed characterisations of this molecule3,4. Here we begin to define 16S rRNA function by localising the major conserved regions in the molecule through a comparative analysis of 27 prokaryotic 16S rRNA primary structures.
