TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a discourse manager which allows effective collaboration between a user and a computer agent, with the computer agent playing the same role as a human collaborator, and the discourse state includes structures to track the agent's and user's current objectives, a selected recipe for each objective, and completed steps in each recipe.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a discourse manager which permits effective collaboration between a user and a computer agent. The system operates according to a theory of collaborative discourse between humans, with the computer agent playing the same role as a human collaborator. The present invention does not concern the internal operation of a particular agent, but relates rather to the structures for managing a collaborative discourse between any type of agent and the user. The discourse manager includes a memory in which application-specific recipes are stored and a memory in which the discourse state is stored. Each recipe specifies a set of actions or subtasks which are performed to achieve an objective. The discourse state includes structures to track the agent's and user's current objectives, a selected recipe for each objective, and completed steps in each recipe. The discourse manager also includes a segmented interaction history, which is a chronological record of all the events in the interaction hierarchically grouped according to their purposes. During operation of the discourse manager, user actions and communications are interpreted according to how they relate to the current discourse state. The manager also generates an agenda of expected communications, which is presented to the user as a menu, obviating the need for the natural language understanding by the agent. Finally, the segmented interaction history permits powerful transformations, such as returning to earlier points in the collaboration and replaying segments in a new context.

TL;DR: The results show that the proposed guidance law is far superior to the guidance law that employs only augmented proportional navigation throughout the interception course, in regard to extending the launch boundaries or minimizing the interception time.
Abstract: An advanced midcourse guidance law for medium-range air-to-air missiles is proposed. The law consists of two different guidance modes: the final velocity maximum or the final time minimum, depending on the initial missile-target geometry. The former is preferable against a highly maneuverable target at a great distance, whereas the latter is demanded against a near target. This midcourse guidance law is combined with augmented proportional navigation in the homing phase. Performance is evaluated by computer simulations against conventional and advanced targets. The results show that the proposed guidance law is far superior to the guidance law that employs only augmented proportional navigation throughout the interception course, in regard to extending the launch boundaries or minimizing the interception time.

TL;DR: A multi-display control system enables an operation screen to come up on an operator's front screen when an application performing a display operation changes, without the need for the operator to move the display image as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A multi-display control system enables an operation screen to come up on an operator's front screen when an application performing a display operation changes, without the need for the operator to move the display image. When the conditions for image detection have been met, it is detected where the position of a mouse is on a hypothetical single-sheet page 5 (process 1). Next, from the position detection result it is assessed if the mouse is on a second sub display apparatus 8 (process 2). Then in the case where the assessed operating screen is not the main display apparatus 6, the screen contents of the second sub display apparatus 8 and the screen contents of the main display apparatus 6 are exchanged and displayed on the respective image display apparatuses. That is, the screen contents of the second sub display apparatus 8 are transformed to the main display apparatus 6, and the screen contents of the main display apparatus 6 are transformed to the second sub display apparatus 8 (process 3). As a result, the working space shown by the mouse can always be brought to the front screen, and the operating efficiency of the image display can be further improved.

TL;DR: A semiconductor light-emitting element comprises: a semiconductor substrate; an active layer, a second conductivity-type semiconductor layer, and a contact layer that are sequentially laminated on the substrate as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A semiconductor light-emitting element comprises: a semiconductor substrate; a semiconductor laminated structure including a first conductivity-type semiconductor layer, an active layer, a second conductivity-type semiconductor layer, and a contact layer that are sequentially laminated on the semiconductor substrate; a ridge portion in an upper portion of the semiconductor laminated structure; a channel portion adjoining opposite sides of the ridge portion; a terrace portion adjoining opposite sides of the channel portion and, with the channel portion, sandwiching the ridge portion; a first insulating film covering the channel portion and having openings on the ridge portion and the terrace portion; a single-layer adhesive layer on the first insulating film; a Pd electrode on the ridge portion and a part of the single-layer adhesive layer and electrically connected to the contact layer of the ridge portion; and a second insulating layer covering a portion not covered by the Pd electrode of the single-layer adhesive layer, and the terrace portion.
