TL;DR: This paper presents an efficient layout method for a high-speed multiplier by proposing a rectangular Wallace-tree construction method that eliminates the dead area when the multiplier is laid out in a rectangle.
Abstract: This paper presents an efficient layout method for a high-speed multiplier. The Wallace-tree method is generally used for high-speed multipliers. In the conventional Wallace tree, however, every partial product is added in a single direction from top to bottom. Therefore, the number of adders increases as the adding stage moves forward. As a result, it generates a dead area when the multiplier is laid out in a rectangle. To solve this problem, we propose a rectangular Wallace-tree construction method. In our method, the partial products are divided into two groups and added in the opposite direction. The partial products in the first group are added downward, and the partial products in the second group are added upward. Using this method, we eliminate the dead area. Also, we optimized the carry propagation between the two groups to realize high speed and a simple layout, We applied it to a 54/spl times/54-bit multiplier. The 980 /spl mu/m/spl times/1000 /spl mu/m area size and the 600 MHz clock speed have been achieved using 0.18 /spl mu/m CMOS technology.

01 Oct 2018TL;DR: In this paper, a multi-plateau sigmoid function is introduced to detect real multilevel modulation symbols in a quasi-static flat multiple-antenna channel using deep neural networks.
Abstract: A quasi-static flat multiple-antenna channel is considered. We show how real multilevel modulation symbols can be detected via deep neural networks. A multi-plateau sigmoid function is introduced. Then, after showing the DNN architecture for detection, we propose a twin-network neural structure. Batch size and training statistics for efficient learning are investigated. Near-Maximum-Likelihood performance with a relatively reasonable number of parameters is achieved.

28 Feb 2005TL;DR: In this paper, the DRM mode indicated by a client terminal 1 differs from the DRM (Digital Rights Management) modes available to a license server 2 and a distribution server 4, and the license server requests a DRM mode converting server 6 to convert the DRM modes of the multimedia contents.
Abstract: When the DRM mode indicated by a client terminal 1 differs from DRM (Digital Rights Management) modes available to a license server 2 and a distribution server 4 , the license server 2 requests a DRM mode converting server 6 to convert the DRM mode of the multimedia contents. When the DRM mode converting server 6 receives the conversion request of the DRM mode, it converts the DRM mode of the multimedia contents distributed from the distribution server 4 to the DRM mode available to the client terminal 1 , and transfers the multimedia contents passing through the conversion to the client terminal 1.

04 Jul 2013TL;DR: In this paper, a wireless communication apparatus includes a BT-apparatus unit configured to perform wireless communication using frequency hopping, a WLAN-based information managing unit that, upon detecting simultaneous communication between the BT and the WLAN, can determine a directionality setting value for the BT-based unit based on the measured communication quality.
Abstract: A wireless communication apparatus includes a BT-apparatus unit configured to perform wireless communication using frequency hopping, a WLAN-apparatus unit configured to perform wireless communication in a system different from a system of the BT-apparatus unit using a band including at least a part of a band used by the BT-apparatus unit and using a WLAN-antenna whose directionality is controllable, and an information managing unit configured to, upon detecting simultaneous communication of the BT-apparatus unit and the WLAN-apparatus unit, instruct the WLAN-apparatus unit to perform communication while adjusting a beam direction of the WLAN-antenna and instruct the BT-apparatus unit to measure a communication quality, determine a directionality setting value of the WLAN-antenna based on the communication quality measurement by the BT-apparatus unit, and instruct the WLAN-apparatus unit to perform communication using the determined directionality setting value.

27 Apr 1998TL;DR: In this article, a technique involving blocking of voxel data organizes the data so that all voxels within a block are stored at consecutive memory addresses within a single memory model.
Abstract: Apparatus is provided to enable real-time volume rendering on a personal computer or a desktop computer in which a technique involving blocking of voxel data organizes the data so that all voxels within a block are stored at consecutive memory addresses within a single memory model, making possible fetching an entire block of data in a burst rather than one voxel at a time. This permits utilization of DRAM memory modules which provide high capacity and low cost with substantial space savings. Additional techniques including sectioning reduces the amount of intermediate storage in a processing pipeline to an acceptable level for semiconductor implementation. A multiplexing technique takes advantage of blocking to reduce the amount of data needed to be transmitted per block, thus reducing the number of pins and the rates at which data must be transmitted across the pins connecting adjacent processing modules with each other. A mini-blocking technique saves the time needed to process sections by avoiding reading entire blocks for voxels near the boundary between a section and previously processed sections.
