TL;DR: In this article, a memory-saving and low-torque-ripple new PWM (split zero vector) method is presented. But, it is limited to the low-frequency region and cannot reach the precise switching instants because of limitation of available memory capacity and of bits.
Abstract: The development of digital devices has led to the production of PWM inverters for driving induction motors having high-frequency carriers over 10 000 Hz. However, the popular digital devices exhibit difficulties in arriving at the precise switching instants because of limitation of available memory capacity and of bits, especially in the low-frequency region. Basic discussions on the magnetic flux and torque ripple and an introduction to a memory-saving and low-torque-ripple new PWM (split zero vector) method are given. The experiments show fairly good current waveforms, low iron loss, and low acoustic noise.

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-dimensional numerical analysis is made for MOSFETs having short channel lengths, which is especially characterized by the existence of the punch-through current which cannot be explained by the one-dimensional MOS-FET models.
Abstract: A two-dimensional numerical analysis is made for MOSFETs having short channel lengths. The short channel MOSFET is especially characterized by the existence of the punch-through current which cannot be explained by the one-dimensional MOSFET models. The two-dimensional analysis makes clear the following facts relating about the punch-through mechanism. The punch-through is a condition in which the depletion layers of the source and the drain connect mutually at the deep region in the substrate even in equilibrium. The punch-through current is injected through the saddle point of the intrinsic potential into the drain region by the electric field from the drain, at the low gate voltages.

23 May 2010TL;DR: In this paper, a high efficiency (68%), high output power (100W), high reliability GaN HEMT amplifier for C-band space applications is described. But the performance of this amplifier was not evaluated.
Abstract: This paper describes a high efficiency (68%), high output power (100W), high reliability GaN HEMT amplifier for C-band space applications. The high efficiency is achieved by 2nd-harmonic frequency (2f o ) tuning circuits in the input and output matching circuits. The input circuit uses open-ended stubs located nearby FET gate terminals for setting the 2f o reflection-phase at the optimum phase. In the output circuit, the optimum 2f o reflection phase is realized using three transmission-line transformers while matching loss is kept low at fundamental frequency. In addition, a 3000 hour's RF overdrive life test reveals that an estimated mean time to failure (MTTF) is 1×107 hours at 150°C channel temperature, proving that the amplifier has sufficient reliability for space applications. To the best of our knowledge, the efficiency of 68% is the highest of 100-W class C-band amplifiers ever reported, and is also comparable to that of commercially available traveling wave tube amplifiers.

29 Aug 1997TL;DR: In this article, a system for fast, efficient and reliable communication of object state irmation among a group of processes combines the use of a fast, but lossy and thus unreliable communications channel to the group of process and a server coupled with the group for providing data which has been lost in the multicasting.
Abstract: A system for fast, efficient and reliable communication of object state irmation among a group of processes combines the use of a fast, but lossy and thus unreliable communications channel to the group of processes and a server coupled to the group for providing data which has been lost in the multicasting In one embodiment, a central server supports reliability and rapid joining while using UDP multicast messaging to achieve rapid interaction and low bandwidth Differential messages are sent over the lossy channel to compactly describe how to compute the new state of an object from any of several previous states Such a description can be interpreted even if some number of prior descriptions were not received, greatly reducing the need for explicit, round-trip message repairs while also conserving bandwidth In one embodiment, the central server communicates with each member of the group over a reliable channel to robustly detect and repair objects affected by lost messages

21 Feb 1992TL;DR: In this paper, an error current component which becomes zero when an actual value of a primary flux coincides with a set value inducted by a product of an exciting current command and a primary self-inductance by detecting a primary current of an inductance motor, is inducted.
Abstract: An error current component which becomes zero when an actual value of a primary flux coincides with a set value inducted by a product of an exciting current command and a primary self-inductance by detecting a primary current of an inductance motor, is inducted by an error current component processing circuit. A primary resistance compensation circuit processes a compensation amount of a primary resistance compensation amount. And a compensation voltage processing circuit processes a compensation voltage which directs the error current component to zero. A rotating speed of the induction motor can be controlled in a stable state even though a value of primary resistance of the induction motor is varied by temperature. Further, inadequate torque and excess current can be avoided.
