TL;DR: In this paper, a 120 MVA Static VAR Compensator (SVC) was installed for suppressing flicker caused by two 100 ton arc furnaces and has been in operation since April of 1978.
Abstract: This paper describes the system outline, the features of component equipments and the operating results of 120 MVA Static VAR Compensator (SVC). The SVC was installed for suppressing flicker caused by two 100 ton arc furnaces and has been in operation since April of 1978. In addition, an exclusive monitor panel was installed to monitor the flicker, harmonic currents and other components at critical bus. Special emphasis is placed on the analysis of flicker compensating effect with new measuring method, 33 kV thyristor switch hardware and outline of the monitor panel.

01 Oct 2001TL;DR: In this article, the optimization of the operating bias condition and input harmonic termination for the practical circuit design of high efficiency inverse class-F amplifiers was investigated, and it was found that inverse class F amplifiers exhibit a high efficiency at the quiescent current of larger than 10% Idss.
Abstract: The optimization of the operating bias condition and input harmonic termination is investigated for the practical circuit design of high efficiency inverse class-F amplifiers. It is found that inverse class-F amplifiers exhibit a high efficiency at the quiescent current of larger than 10% Idss, which cannot be achieved by class-F amplifiers. It is also revealed that the efficiency of inverse class-F amplifiers can be effectively improved by the open or high impedance of the input 2nd harmonic termination. These results have been explained by the behavior of the amplitude and phase relationship between the input and output harmonics.

25 Jan 1996TL;DR: In this paper, a traffic management system is provided to allow implementation of available bit rate, or ABR, flow control by an external processor and the use of a new ABR controller within an ATM network interface controller.
Abstract: In an ATM network interface controller, a traffic management system is provided to allow implementation of available bit rate, or ABR, flow control by an external processor and the use of a new ABR controller within the traffic management system which provides functions that enable an external processor to control the flow control behavior of the network interface controller. The ABR controller accesses an external memory to control the flow of cells injected into the network. In one embodiment, the subject system uses a traffic shaper to control cell transmission rates, submits requests to an external memory which are processed by an external processor, and reads data from an external memory to adjust cell transmission rates and/or generates Resource Management, or RM, cells. More particularly, in one embodiment, the traffic shaper uses a timing chain approach enhanced with a delay queue which is capable of delaying transmission of i cell for a long period of time, thus being able to accurately control a wide range of cell transmission rates for multiple cell streams independently. The subject system submits requests to an external memory when it receives an RM cell, sends an RM cell, or when reaching a cell transmission limit, initiates processing by an external processor. An external processor communicates with the subject system by writing data into an external memory. The subject system reads data from the memory and determines what cell to send, how long it should be delayed before sending a next cell, thus allowing an external processor to easily control the behavior of an ATM network interface controller to implement a wide variety of flow control schemes.

TL;DR: In this article, the conditions for making ohmic contacts with low specific contact resistance on n-type GaAs by Au Ge Ni alloys were suggested based on the results of liquid phase epitaxial growth experiments.
Abstract: Epitaxial GaAs layers are grown from Au Ge and Au Ge Ni melts in order to study Ni/Au Ge/GaAs alloyed contacts. The solubility of GaAs in Au Ge and Au Ge Ni alloys has been measured. The electrical behavior of Au, Ge and Ni in Ni/Au Ge/GaAs alloyed contacts is also discussed. Based on the results of liquid phase epitaxial growth experiments, we suggest the conditions for making ohmic contacts with low specific contact resistance on n -type GaAs by Au Ge Ni alloys. The specific contact resistance of Ni/Au Ge/GaAs alloyed contacts is also measured.

08 Dec 2000TL;DR: In this article, a method for manufacturing an alternator includes preparing a winding assembly formed by bending strands of wire so as to have straight portions which fit into slots, forming a base core by laminating plate-shaped magnetic members formed with the slots, stacking the winding assembly on the base core and pressing the wound assembly such that the straight portions enter the slots.
