TL;DR: A general expression is derived for the complementary cumulative distribution function of a sum of K independent random variables, where each random variable is a product of an exponential and a Bernoulli random variable, and applied to find a simple closed-form expression that characterizes the system outage performance as a function of network parameters and node geometry.
Abstract: A cooperative wireless network, where a cluster of $K$ single-antenna transmitters jointly serve a single-antenna receiver, is considered. Each transmitter is connected to the control unit (CU) via independent but unreliable backhaul links. The CU sends a common message to each transmitter over backhaul links, which upon successful reception, jointly transmit this message to the intended receiver. To facilitate analysis, a general expression is derived for the complementary cumulative distribution function of a sum of $K$ independent random variables, where each random variable is a product of an exponential and a Bernoulli random variable. This result is applied to find a simple closed-form expression that characterizes the system outage performance as a function of network parameters and node geometry. The analytical model is validated using numerical simulations. As an application, the derived expression is also used for investigating the impact of backhaul assignment on the system performance.

TL;DR: In this paper, an automotive hybrid engine assist system that simultaneously mounts both an idling reduction system and an electric motor turbocharging system is presented, and switches connection of the inverter to the generator-motor or to the super high speed rotary machine.
Abstract: An automotive hybrid engine assist system that simultaneously mounts both an idling reduction system and an electric motor turbocharging system, and that is small, light, inexpensive, and fuel-efficient. Three-phase power terminals of a generator-motor and a super-high-speed rotary machine are respectively connected to an inverter by a large-current wiring. An electric power direction change-over switch is disposed in a path of the large-current wiring, and switches connection of the inverter to the generator-motor or to the super-high-speed rotary machine.

TL;DR: This paper discusses the security of the differential-phase-shift quantum-key-distribution (DPSQKD) protocol by introducing an improved version of the so-called sequential attack, which was originally discussed by Waks et al.
Abstract: In this paper, we discuss the security of the differential-phase-shift quantum-key-distribution (DPSQKD) protocol by introducing an improved version of the so-called sequential attack, which was originally discussed by Waks et al. [Phys. Rev. A 73, 012344 (2006)]. Our attack differs from the original form of the sequential attack in that the attacker Eve modulates not only the phases but also the amplitude in the superposition of the single-photon states which she sends to the receiver. Concentrating especially on the 'discretized Gaussian' intensity modulation, we show that our attack is more effective than the individual attack, which had been the best attack up to present. As a result of this, the recent experiment with communication distance of 100 km reported by Diamanti et al. [Opt. Express 14, 13073 (2006)] turns out to be insecure. Moreover, it can be shown that in a practical experimental setup which is commonly used today, the communication distance achievable by the DPSQKD protocol is less than 95 km.

TL;DR: In this paper, column redundancy control circuit changes the timing for outputting the result of spare determination for data write mode and for a data read mode and a semiconductor memory device suitable for merging with a logic and capable of reducing the current consumption and achieving a higher operation frequency is provided.
Abstract: Read data line pairs, write data line pairs, a spare read data line pair, and a spare write data line pair are provided extending in the column direction over a memory cell array. Spare bit repair is performed by replacing a data line pair. Column redundancy control circuit changes the timing for outputting the result of spare determination for a data write mode and for a data read mode. A semiconductor memory device suitable for merging with a logic and capable of reducing the current consumption and achieving a higher operation frequency is provided.

TL;DR: In this paper, a pseudo-knock determination unit is used to determine whether or not a pseudo knock has been produced in a knock detection window, based on at least one of the frequency, a status amount indicating a rotation speed of the internal combustion engine, a load of the engine, and an air-fuel ratio.
Abstract: An internal combustion engine control apparatus includes a pseudo knock determination unit that determines whether or not a pseudo knock has been produced in a knock detection window, based on at least one of the frequency, a status amount indicating a rotation speed of the internal combustion engine, a status amount indicating a load of the internal combustion engine, and a status amount indicating an air-fuel ratio of the internal combustion engine; and a moving-average processing unit that sets a second period to a period that is approximately the same as a first period, in the case where it has been determined that the pseudo knock was not produced, and that does not implement moving-averaging or sets the second period to a period that is narrower than the first period, in the case where it has been determined that a pseudo knock was produced.
