29 Sep 2008TL;DR: A heat pump water heater includes: a compressor, a first water-refrigerant heat exchanger, a second water-frigorant heat exchange, and water channels including a flow channel leading to the downstream side of the water channels.
Abstract: A heat pump water heater includes: a compressor; a first water-refrigerant heat exchanger; a second water-refrigerant heat exchanger; refrigerant paths capable of forming a refrigerant circuit; and water channels including a flow channel, the flow channel leading hot water that has passed through the second water-refrigerant heat exchanger to the first water-refrigerant heat exchanger The heat pump water heater is able to perform a heating operation In the heating operation, the hot water heated in the second water-refrigerant heat exchanger is fed to the first water-refrigerant heat exchanger and the hot water further heated in the first water-refrigerant heat exchanger is supplied to a downstream side of the water channels The first water-refrigerant heat exchanger is able to be replaced without replacing the second water-refrigerant heat exchanger

22 Sep 2008TL;DR: This paper adds frame-to-frame regularization across time and shows that this additional regularization can also improve speech denoising results.
Abstract: We present a technique for denoising speech using temporally regularized nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF). In previous work [1], we used a regularized NMF update to impose structure within each audio frame. In this paper, we add frame-to-frame regularization across time and show that this additional regularization can also improve our speech denoising results. We evaluate our algorithm on a range of nonstationary noise types and outperform a state-of-the-art Wiener filter implementation. Interspeech 2008

21 Mar 2001TL;DR: In this article, a computerized system enables multiple users of standard Internet web browsers to collaborate by having significant states of their browser, such as which web page is currently being viewed, scrollbar positions, and form values, to be remotely controlled by users of other Internet Web browsers.
Abstract: A computerized system enables multiple users of standard Internet web browsers to collaborate by having significant states of their browser, such as which web page is currently being viewed, scrollbar positions, and form values, to be remotely controlled by users of other Internet web browsers. The system uses a monitor to poll the static and dynamic state of the selected pages, and to communicate the state with a controller executing on a web server. The content of the collaboratively viewed pages is arbitrary because viewed pages remain unmodified. Therefore, pre-existing web pages can be collaboratively browsed. Each of the users is optionally a sender or a receiver of selected web pages, and therefore is allowed to control which web pages are collaboratively viewed.

TL;DR: In this article, an audio interactive tutor includes an audio input module, in the preferred embodiment a voice recognition unit based on a finite state grammar, an audio output module, a course of study and a user model.
Abstract: An all-audio, hands-free and eyes-free interactive tutor provides time-efficient and reduced-boredom instruction by varying a course of instruction based on the correct and incorrect responses of the user so as to frequently repeat and provide positive feedback for poorly-learned items of knowledge, to periodically refresh well-learned items and to suggest that rest be taken or to switch to easier material whenever too many human errors have occurred. The audio interactive tutor includes an audio input module, in the preferred embodiment a voice recognition unit based on a finite state grammar, an audio output module, a course of study and a user model. In a preferred embodiment, the course of study provides for human error control as well as for voice recognition unit error control, which synergistically cooperate to render the tutor substantially fault-tolerant and therewith enables the employment of commercially-available but not excessively accurate voice recognition units. The tutor may be embodied to operate on a PC or workstation, or may be embodied to operate as a stand-alone tutor. Spanish language instruction is disclosed in an exemplary embodiment.

24 May 1982TL;DR: The design method which minimizes the phase error on the aperture of the linear array antenna has been shown and makes it possible to design small and low-loss Rotman lens antennas.
Abstract: A Rotman lens is used to feed a linear array antenna for wideband use. A relationship between design parameters for realizing a Rotman lens has been derived by introducing a new design variable. The design method which minimizes the phase error on the aperture of the linear array antenna has been shown. For large array length, the above phase error due to this method becomes considerably smaller than that due to a conventional method. This improved method makes it possible to design small and low-loss Rotman lens antennas.
