TL;DR: In this article, a fiber-optic measurement instrument for temperature was constructed consisting of a small sensor responding to optical absorption change in a semiconductor, and a unique signal processing system with two different-wavelength light emitting diodes (LED's).
Abstract: A practical fiber-optic measurement instrument for temperature was constructed consisting of a small sensor responding to optical absorption change in a semiconductor, and a unique signal processing system with two different-wavelength light emitting diodes (LED's). The fiber-optic sensor with a semiconductor chip is quite small, very sensitive, highly reliable, and easy to manufacture at low cost. The most outstanding feature of this system is that it is free from optical-stray-loss. The accuracy of about \pm1\deg and the response time of about 2 s were obtained in the temperature range from -10°C to 300°C.

02 Dec 1992TL;DR: In this paper, a warning system for a vehicle generates a warning for a driver of the vehicle when the separation between the vehicle (1) and an obstacle (20) located in front of vehicle falls below a prescribed value.
Abstract: A warning apparatus for a vehicle generates a warning for a driver of the vehicle when the separation between the vehicle (1) and an obstacle (20) located in front of the vehicle falls below a prescribed value. The prescribed value is varied in accordance with changes in the physical or mental state of the driver of the vehicle, environmental conditions, or the driving characteristics of the driver and thereby adjust to changes in the driver's reaction time and the stopping distance of the vehicle.

27 Feb 1997TL;DR: In this article, a system for creating lighting for a photograph generates a large number of mages based upon structures determined from the photograph and randomly selected light positions, types and directions.
Abstract: A system for creating lighting for a photograph generates a large number ofmages based upon structures determined from the photograph and randomly selected light positions, types and directions. One or more photographs are analyzed to determine the three-dimensional structures in the photographs. These structures are represented as gray surfaces, to which lighting is applied. The images are culled to provide a set of images which best spans the lighting space represented by the large number of images. The culling process is iterative; at each iteration, the image which is most dissimilar from a nearest neighbor in the selected set is added to the selected set. The images are organized in a hierarchical structure. A user interface allows the user to review and select images in the hierarchical structure. The images selected by the user are combined to create a final image with composite lighting. The lighting specifications can be saved for future reference by the lighting system or other applications. The lighting of the gray surface images are used to modify the intensity of pixels in the photograph in order to change lighting in the photograph.

20 Sep 2006TL;DR: In this paper, a transmission relay 400 relays a signal between a first transmission line 500 to which the one or more outdoor units 100 and the centralized control apparatus 300 are connected and a second transmission line 510 to which one ormore indoor units 200 constituting a group are connected.
Abstract: An air-conditioning system capable of reducing traffic of signals and effectively performing control and management operations without causing heavy traffic is obtained. In an air-conditioning system including one or more indoor units 200 , one or more outdoor units 100 , and a centralized control apparatus 300 and performing signal communication, a transmission relay 400 is provided between a first transmission line 500 to which the one or more outdoor units 100 and the centralized control apparatus 300 are connected and a second transmission line 510 to which one or more indoor units 200 constituting a group are connected, the transmission relay 400 relays a signal between the first transmission line 500 and the connected second transmission line 510 . The transmission relay 400 further includes arithmetic processing means 430 for processing data included in the signal transmitted via the connected second transmission line 510 , and data storage means 440 for storing data regarding the processing by the arithmetic processing means 430.

20 Dec 2012TL;DR: In this article, an ASL is associated with an APP module having as a communication target an existing APP SW-C(1), where a buffer part accumulates data to the existing APP WS and data from the existing WS, and stores the received data in the buffer part.
Abstract: An ASL is associated with an APP module having as a communication target an existing APP SW-C( 1 ). A buffer part accumulates data to the existing APP SW-C( 1 ) and data from the existing APP SW-C( 1 ). A communication processing part transmits the data to the existing APP SW-C( 1 ) accumulated in the buffer part to the existing APP SW-C( 1 ), receives data transmitted from the existing APP SW-C( 1 ), and stores the received data in the buffer part. An API processing part receives as input from the APP module data to the existing APP SW-C( 1 ), stores the data received as input in the buffer part, receives as input from the buffer part data from the existing APP SW-C( 1 ), and outputs the data received as input to the APP module.
