TL;DR: An aluminosilicate of novel crystal structure has been synthesized that has molecular-sieve properties that permit separation of straight-chain from branched-chain and cyclic hydrocarbons.
Abstract: An aluminosilicate of novel crystal structure has been synthesized. It has molecular-sieve properties that permit separation of straight-chain from branched-chain and cyclic hydrocarbons. This zeolite is unusually stable in solutions of low pH.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors described the preparation of a member of a generation of new synthetic zeolites, called ZSM-5, which was unique because of its high silica/alumina ratio and greatly reduced coking rates for reactions with hydrocarbons.
Abstract: It has been about 20 years since Plank, Rosinski, and Hawthorne reported their spectacular results with metal-modified zeolite cracking catalysts for more efficient production of gasoline [1]. This discovery has saved an estimated 200 million barrels of crude oil each year in the United States alone [2]. In 1972, a patent by Argauer and Landolt described the preparation of a member of a generation of new synthetic zeolites, called ZSM- 5. It was unique because of its high silica/alumina ratio and greatly reduced coking rates for reactions with hydrocarbons by comparison with known low silica zeolites [3]. This material was an early member of a series of over 50 synthetic zeolitic substances prepared in Mobil laboratories.

TL;DR: In this paper, a process for modifying ZSM-5 type zeolite catalysts with gaseous nitrogen-based treating agents in order to enhance the para-selective properties of such catalysts for the conversion of aromatic materials to dialkyl-substituted benzene compounds is provided.
Abstract: A process is provided for modifying ZSM-5 type zeolite catalysts with gaseous nitrogen-based treating agents in order to enhance the para-selective properties of such catalysts for the conversion of aromatic materials to dialkyl-substituted benzene compounds. Nitrogen-based treating agents include nitrogen dioxide and ammonia. Catalyst compositions so treated can be used in alkylation, transalkylation or disproportionation processes to provide product mixtures having exceptionally high concentrations of the para-dialkylbenzene isomer.

TL;DR: An oriented film combination of a base layer of polypropylene at least one surface of which comprises a maleic acid anhydride modified polyethylene; and a skin layer of an amorphous polyamide or a blend of an polyamide and a semicrystalline polyamide.
Abstract: An oriented film combination of (a) a base layer of polypropylene at least one surface of which comprises a maleic acid anhydride modified polypropylene; and (b) on at least one surface, a skin layer of an amorphous polyamide or a blend of an amorphous polyamide and a semicrystalline polyamide.

TL;DR: In this paper, a bender-type transducer includes opposed unrestricted planar surfaces mounted within a liquid filled compartment within the tool, and the unrestricted surfaces of the transducers are spaced longitudinally along the axis of the tool and exposed to the coupling liquid.
Abstract: Acoustic well logging method and system employing a bender-type transducer as a point source of an acoustic shear wave. The bender-type transducer includes opposed unrestricted planar surfaces mounted within a liquid filled compartment within the tool. The unrestricted surfaces of the transducer are spaced longitudinally along the axis of the tool and exposed to the coupling liquid. One or more bender-type transducers may also be employed as acoustic receivers in the tools. The active surfaces of the receiving transducers are oriented in substantially the same direction as the active surfaces of the transmitting transducer.
