TL;DR: In this paper, the main regimes of interaction of relativistically strong electromagnetic waves with plasma under conditions in which the radiation from particles plays a dominant role are discussed, and an approach is developed for generating superintense electromagnetic pulses by means of up-to-date laser devices.
Abstract: A study is made of the main regimes of interaction of relativistically strong electromagnetic waves with plasma under conditions in which the radiation from particles plays a dominant role. The discussion is focused on such issues as the generation of short electromagnetic pulses in the interaction of laser light with clusters and highly efficient ion acceleration in a thin plasma slab under the action of the ponderomotive pressure of the wave. An approach is developed for generating superintense electromagnetic pulses by means of up-to-date laser devices.

TL;DR: In this article, an extension of the Standard Model with an additional Higgs singlet was analyzed and bounds on singlet admixture for the 125 GeV h boson from electroweak radiative corrections and data on h production and decays were obtained.
Abstract: An extension of the Standard Model with an additional Higgs singlet is analyzed. Bounds on singlet admixture for the 125 GeV h boson from electroweak radiative corrections and data on h production and decays are obtained. The possibility of double h production enhancement at 14 TeV LHC due to a heavy Higgs contribution is considered.

TL;DR: The structures of Krokinobacter eikastus rhodopsin 2 show that the sodium ion is bound outside the protein at the oligomerization interface, that the ion-release cavity is capped by a unique N-terminal α-helix and that the Ion-uptake cavity is unexpectedly large and open to the surface.
Abstract: Recently, the first known light-driven sodium pumps, from the microbial rhodopsin family, were discovered. We have solved the structure of one of them, Krokinobacter eikastus rhodopsin 2 (KR2), in the monomeric blue state and in two pentameric red states, at resolutions of 1.45 A and 2.2 and 2.8 A, respectively. The structures reveal the ion-translocation pathway and show that the sodium ion is bound outside the protein at the oligomerization interface, that the ion-release cavity is capped by a unique N-terminal α-helix and that the ion-uptake cavity is unexpectedly large and open to the surface. Obstruction of the cavity with the mutation G263F imparts KR2 with the ability to pump potassium. These results pave the way for the understanding and rational design of cation pumps with new specific properties valuable for optogenetics.
