TL;DR: Simulation results justify that the proposed FLEC scheme outperforms over LEACH, DEEC, and LEACH-Fuzzy protocols.
Abstract: In recent trends, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are mostly used for a number of applications where conventional networks are infeasible. To perform WSN operation, a number of sensors are deployed in desired network cross-section. Since sensors are embedded with limited resources, it has the limitation while using sensor node’s battery power. Clustering schemes are one of them which can utilize sensor’s power effectively in WSNs. In this paper, a Fuzzy Logic based Effective Clustering (FLEC) of Homogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks for Mobile Sink has been introduced. The problem associated with existing protocol, A Fuzzy logic based Clustering Algorithm for WSN to extend the Network Lifetime (LEACH-Fuzzy), is resolved in FLEC by utilizing the concept of average energy based probability and average threshold for appropriate cluster heads (CHs) selection. In addition, average energy of CHs has been also included in Fuzzy descriptors to make proper super cluster head (SCH) election among CHs. Simulation results justify that the proposed FLEC scheme outperforms over LEACH, DEEC, and LEACH-Fuzzy protocols.

TL;DR: In this paper, a face grinding setup for electro-discharge diamond face grinding (EDDG) process is developed for tungsten carbide-cobalt composite (WC-Co) with electrical spark discharge incorporated within face of wheel and flat surface of cylindrical workpiece.
Abstract: Electro-discharge machining (EDM) characteristics of tungsten carbide-cobalt composite are accompanied by a number of problems such as the presence of resolidified layer, large tool wear rate and thermal cracks. Use of combination of conventional grinding and EDM (a new hybrid feature) has potential to overcome these problems. This article presents the face grinding of tungsten carbide-cobalt composite (WC-Co) with electrical spark discharge incorporated within face of wheel and flat surface of cylindrical workpiece. A face grinding setup for electro- discharge diamond grinding (EDDG) process is developed. The effect of input parameters such as wheel speed, current, pulse on-time and duty factor on output parameters such as material removal rate (MRR), wheel wear rate (WWR) and average surface roughness (ASR), are investigated. The present study shows that MRR increases with increase in current and wheel speed while it decreases with increase in pulse on-time for higher pulse on-time (above 100 µs). The most significant factor has been found as wheel speed affecting the robustness of electro- discharge diamond face grinding (EDDFG) process.

TL;DR: In this article, a layered aligned dispersion of graphene in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanocomposites is prepared in the form of films through simple solution processing route.
Abstract: Layered aligned dispersion of graphene in graphene/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanocomposites is prepared in the form of films through simple solution processing route. The results indicate that there exist an interfacial interaction between PVA and graphene because of hydrogen bonding. This is responsible for the change in structure of PVA (such as decrease in the level of crystallization) and exhibiting ductile PVA nanocomposite film with improved tensile modulus, tensile strength, and thermal stability. Moreover, to improve the mechanical properties of PVA nanocomposites, graphene is successfully modified using a non-covalent modifier, sodium alginate (SA) and there exist an ‘anion-π’ type of interaction in between SA and graphene. The modification results in finer dispersion of the graphene in PVA/SA-m-graphene nanocomposites. In addition, there exist a hydrogen bonding in between PVA and SA. This has resulted in the remarkable improvement in mechanical properties of PVA/SA-m-graphene nanocomposites as co...

TL;DR: The proposed multilevel watermarking method correctly extracts the embedded watermarks without error and is robust against the all considered attacks without significant degradation of the medical image quality of the watermarked image.
Abstract: This paper presents a new secure multiple text and image watermarking scheme on cover eye image using fusion of discrete wavelet transforms (DWT) and singular value decomposition (SVD) for Teleophthalmology. Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA-512) is used for generating hash corresponding to iris part of the cover digital eye image and this unique hash parameter is used for enhancing the security feature of the proposed watermarking technique. Simultaneous embedding of four different watermarks (i.e. Signature, index, caption and reference watermark) in form of image and text using fusion of discrete wavelet transforms (DWT) and singular value decomposition (SVD) is achieved in this paper. The suggested technique initially divides the digital eye image into Region of interest (ROI) containing iris and Non-Region of interest (NROI) part where the text and image watermarks are embedded into the Non-Region of interest (NROI) part of the DWT cover image. The selection of DWT decomposition level for embedding the text and image watermarks depends on size, different characteristics and robustness requirements of medical watermark. The performance in terms of Normalized Correlation (NC) and bit error rate (BER) of the developed scheme is evaluated and analyzed against known signal processing attacks and `Checkmark' attacks. The method is found to be robust against all the considered attacks. The proposed multilevel watermarking method correctly extracts the embedded watermarks without error and is robust against the all considered attacks without significant degradation of the medical image quality of the watermarked image. Therefore the proposed method may find potential application in secure and compact medical data transmission for teleophthalmology applications.
