TL;DR: The role of safe food grade lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus spp.) was investigated for production of biogas from cheese waste with starting hexose concentration 32 g/L and the research is paving way for nonpathogenic production of biohydrogen from food waste.
Abstract: The burgeoning organic waste and continuously increasing energy demands have resulted in significant environmental pollution concerns. To address this issue, the potential of different bacteria to produce biogas/biohydrogen from organic waste can be utilized as a source of renewable energy, however these pathogenic bacteria are not safe to use without strict contact isolation. In this study the role of safe food grade lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus spp.) was investigated for production of biogas from cheese waste with starting hexose concentration 32 g/L. The bacterium Lactobacillus acidophilus was identified as one of the major biogas producers at optimum pH of 6.5. Further the optimum inoculum conditions were found to be 12.5% at inoculum age of 18 h. During the investigation the maximum biogas production was observed to be 1665 mL after 72 hours of incubation at pH 6.5. The biogas production was accompanied with production of other valuable metabolites in the form of organic acids including pyruvate, propionate, acetate, lactate, formate and butyrate. Thus this research is paving way for nonpathogenic production of biohydrogen from food waste.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of coupling agents and alkali treatment of fibers on tensile, flexural and impact properties of composites was studied and the mechanical properties and interfacial bonding were found to improve when surface modified fibers were employed in the composites.
Abstract: Natural fine fibers were extracted from Borassus fruits belonging to the Arecaceae family. To improve the surface, these fibers were treated with aq NaOH solution. Composites were prepared by the hand lay up process using both the untreated and alkali-treated Borassus fine fibers as reinforcement and unsaturated polyester resin as matrix. The effect of a coupling agent and alkali treatment of fibers on tensile, flexural and impact properties of the composites was studied. The mechanical properties and interfacial bonding were found to improve when surface modified fibers were employed in the composites. This is due to the improvement of chemical bonding between the treated fibres and polyester matrix as also supported by Fourier transform infrared results. Water absorption by the different composite types was also found to be negligible.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explore the mediating role of context satisfaction between employees' perception of job characteristics and their turnover intention and rest on the Job Characteristics Model (JCM) and find that context satisfaction is critical to establish a positive environment to lessen turnover intention of employees.
Abstract: Purpose – An employee’s satisfaction with the work context may affect her/his perception of the organization and may hence be a predictor of her/his intention to leave. The purpose of this paper is to explore the possible mediating role of context satisfaction between employees’ perception of job characteristics and their turnover intention and rests on the Job Characteristics Model (JCM). Design/methodology/approach – Hierarchical regression analysis was used to test the moderation hypothesis on sample data of 214 employees of 19 public sector banks in India. The population comprised both junior and middle management grade employees as these are expected to succeed retiring middle and senior management employees. Findings – Findings suggest that in addition to enriched jobs, context satisfaction is critical to establish a positive environment to lessen turnover intention of employees. This highlights the need for a positive and supportive work context to maximize the benefits of jobs with positive charac...
