02 Aug 1991TL;DR: In this article, a probe that can be used for forming a low resistance electrical connection to a semiconductor die includes a contact (18) that is created on a compliant layer (12) which is supported by a substrate (11).
Abstract: A probe (10) that can be used for forming a low resistance electrical connection to a semiconductor die includes a contact (18) that is created on a compliant layer (12) which is supported by a substrate (11) Pressure applied to the contact (18) compresses the compliant layer (11) which causes a distal end of the contact (18) to move in a motion that is substantially equal to an arc As the contact (18) moves through the arc motion, it scrubs across a bonding pad of a semiconductor die and breaks through oxide that typically forms on the bonding pad thereby forming a low resistance electrical connection to the bonding pad

26 Nov 1985TL;DR: In this paper, a disk drive shock mount is provided which attenuates shocks and vibrations to disk drive (1, FIG. 1) and a mounting plate is used to suitably secure the disk drive assembly to the next higher level of assembly.
Abstract: A disk drive shock mount is provided which attenuates shocks and vibrations to a disk drive (1, FIG. 1). The mount comprises a cradle 20 which is affixed to the disk drive housing, and a mounting plate 10 which may be used to suitably secure the disk drive assembly 1 to the next higher level of assembly. Flexible, compressible vibration isolators 50 of rubber or plastic are used to couple the cradle to the mounting plate. Rigid pins 70 on the cradle mate with grommet-enclosed apertures 60, 61 in the mounting plate to limit the degrees of motion permitted between the cradle and the mounting plate.

TL;DR: This work proposes the use of a polynomial-based classifier which is highly computationally scalable with the number of speakers, and a new training algorithm which is discriminative, handles large data sets, and has low memory usage.
Abstract: Modern speaker recognition applications require high accuracy at low complexity. We propose the use of a polynomial-based classifier to achieve these objectives. This approach has several advantages. First, polynomial classifier scoring yields a system which is highly computationally scalable with the number of speakers. Second, a new training algorithm is proposed which is discriminative, handles large data sets, and has low memory usage. Third, the output of the polynomial classifier is easily incorporated into a statistical framework allowing it to be combined with other techniques such as hidden Markov models. Results are given for the application of the new methods to the YOHO speaker recognition database.

03 Aug 2005TL;DR: In this article, a method and apparatus for closed loop transmission is described, where a first message is transmitted to a first subscriber station in a downlink frame assigning a time-frequency resource within the sounding zone, and a sounding waveform.
Abstract: In a wireless communication system, a method and apparatus for closed loop transmission is disclosed. In accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention, a time frequency portion of an uplink frame is dynamically reserved as a sounding zone for uplink channel sounding. A first message is transmitted to a first subscriber station in a downlink frame assigning a time-frequency resource within the sounding zone, and a sounding waveform. Furthermore, a signal is received from the subscriber station within the assigned time-frequency resource, a partial channel response is determined from the received sounding signal, and the subsequent transmission to the subscriber station is tailored based on the at least partial channel response.

09 Oct 2003TL;DR: In this paper, a microdevice consisting of a subtraste (30), a cap (50), and an isolation layer (70) is shown to provide electrical conductivity of the microstructure.
Abstract: A microdevice (20) having a hermetically sealed cavity (22) to house a microstructure (26) In one embodiment, the microdevice (20) comprises a subtraste (30), a cap (50) and an isolation layer (70). The substrate (30) has a plurality of conductive traces (38) formed on at least a portion of its top side (32) and outer edge (36). The conductive traces (38) provide electrical conductivity of the microstructure (26). The isolation layer (70) is attached between an outer edge of a sidewall (54) of the cap (50) and the plurality of conductive traces (38) The cavity (22) is at least partially defined by a recess (56) in the cap (50).
