TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that positive gradients, in terms of electron flow, of temperature, current density, or ion diffusion coefficient foreshorten conductor life because they present regions where vacancies condense to form voids.
Abstract: Recently, electromigration has been identified as a potential wear-out failure mode for semiconductor devices employing metal film conductors of inadequate cross-sectional area. A brief survey of electromigration indicates that although the effect has been known for several decades, a great deal of the processes involved is still unknown, especially for complex metals and solute ions. Earlier design equations are improved to account for conductor film cross-sectional area as well as film structure, film temperature, and current density. Design curves are presented which permit the construction of high reliability "infinite life" aluminum conductors for specific conditions of maximum current and temperature stress expected in use. It is also shown that positive gradients, in terms of electron flow, of temperature, current density, or ion diffusion coefficient foreshorten conductor life because they present regions where vacancies condense to form voids.

TL;DR: It is shown that the measurement of intrinsic molecular properties requires chemically bonded contacts, and nonbonded contacts to octanethiol monolayers were at least four orders of magnitude more resistive, less reproducible, and had a different voltage dependence.
Abstract: A reliable method has been developed for making through-bond electrical contacts to molecules. Current-voltage curves are quantized as integer multiples of one fundamental curve, an observation used to identify single-molecule contacts. The resistance of a single octanedithiol molecule was 900 ± 50 megohms, based on measurements on more than 1000 single molecules. In contrast, nonbonded contacts to octanethiol monolayers were at least four orders of magnitude more resistive, less reproducible, and had a different voltage dependence, demonstrating that the measurement of intrinsic molecular properties requires chemically bonded contacts.

03 Sep 2001TL;DR: The paper provides a sound and complete set of inference rules and a cubic time algorithm for determining implication of the keys in a key constraint language for XML.
Abstract: The paper proposes a key constraint language for XML and investigates its associated decision problems. The language is defined in terms of regular path expressions extended with downward and upward wildcards, which can not only move down XML document trees, but also upwards. In a uniform syntax it is capable of expressing both absolute keys and relative keys, which are important to hierarchically structured data. In addition, keys defined in the language can be reasoned about efficiently. The paper provides a sound and complete set of inference rules and a cubic time algorithm for determining implication of the keys.

02 Sep 1994TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe medical diagnosis and monitoring equipment with wireless electrodes (2a...2f) designed to be secured to the skin of the patient, which can be used to detect EEG and ECG signals or to monitor body/berathing movements.
Abstract: The invention concerns medical diagnosis and monitoring equipment with wireless electrodes (2a...2f) designed to be secured to the skin of the patient (3). The electrodes (2a...2f) include, as well as microsensors, a digital transmitter (31) and receiver (30) unit and an antenna (36a). The electrodes (2a...2f) can be used, for instance, to detect EEG and ECG signals or to monitor body/berathing movements, temperature or perspiration. A preferred embodiment has an electrode which incorporates all functions in a semiconductor chip designed as an integrated circuit with the appropriate sensor, sensor-control, frequency-generation, transmitter and receiver units plus a switching control unit. The antenna (36a) can be mounted either in the flexible electrode covering or directly on the chip.

TL;DR: An overview of the techniques being considered for LTE Release 10 (aka LTEAdvanced) is discussed, which includes bandwidth extension via carrier aggregation to support deployment bandwidths up to 100 MHz, downlink spatial multiplexing including single-cell multi-user multiple-input multiple-output transmission and coordinated multi point transmission, and heterogeneous networks with emphasis on Type 1 and Type 2 relays.
Abstract: LTE Release 8 is one of the primary broadband technologies based on OFDM, which is currently being commercialized. LTE Release 8, which is mainly deployed in a macro/microcell layout, provides improved system capacity and coverage, high peak data rates, low latency, reduced operating costs, multi-antenna support, flexible bandwidth operation and seamless integration with existing systems. LTE-Advanced (also known as LTE Release 10) significantly enhances the existing LTE Release 8 and supports much higher peak rates, higher throughput and coverage, and lower latencies, resulting in a better user experience. Additionally, LTE Release 10 will support heterogeneous deployments where low-power nodes comprising picocells, femtocells, relays, remote radio heads, and so on are placed in a macrocell layout. The LTE-Advanced features enable one to meet or exceed IMT-Advanced requirements. It may also be noted that LTE Release 9 provides some minor enhancement to LTE Release 8 with respect to the air interface, and includes features like dual-layer beamforming and time-difference- of-arrival-based location techniques. In this article an overview of the techniques being considered for LTE Release 10 (aka LTEAdvanced) is discussed. This includes bandwidth extension via carrier aggregation to support deployment bandwidths up to 100 MHz, downlink spatial multiplexing including single-cell multi-user multiple-input multiple-output transmission and coordinated multi point transmission, uplink spatial multiplexing including extension to four-layer MIMO, and heterogeneous networks with emphasis on Type 1 and Type 2 relays. Finally, the performance of LTEAdvanced using IMT-A scenarios is presented and compared against IMT-A targets for full buffer and bursty traffic model.
