TL;DR: The prismatic dark interstitial material in Portland cement clinker is essentially identical with the stable solid solution phase in the system C 3 A-NC 8 A 3 ; with rapid cooling, however, metastable extension of the solid solution series takes place, which is the prevailing mechanism of formation of the prismatic phase in works clinkers of low alkali content as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that if E is an f*H-stable vector bundle on V then f*E is a direct sum of Hstable vector bundles on V. In particular, if L is an ample line bundle on W, then f: V → W is an unramified covering.
Abstract: This paper is a continuation of “Stable vector bundles on algebraic surfaces” [10]. For simplicity we deal with non-singular projective varieties over the field of complex numbers. Let W be a variety whose fundamental group is solvable, let H be an ample line bundle on W, and let f: V → W be an unramified covering. Then we show in section 1 that if E is an f*H-stable vector bundle on V then f*E is a direct sum of H-stable vector bundles. In particular f*L is a direct sum of simple vector bundles if L is a line bundle on V.

TL;DR: In this article, the Nernstian relation holds fluoride determinations can be accomplished by the successive dilution method, and the dilution steps are repeated until the last two results are in agreement, while the concentration of citrate is kept constant.
Abstract: In the determination of fluoride ion with an ion-selective electrode the permissible concentration of aluminum increases markedly with decreasing the fluoride concentration in 0.5M citrate buffer solutions at pi I 6. As the accuracy is constant over a concentration range down to 10−5 M F− where a Nernstian relation holds fluoride determinations can be accomplished by the successive dilution method. The dilution steps are repeated until the last two results are in agreement, while the concentration of citrate is kept constant. As the ionic strength is kept constant with citrate, the addition of sodium chloride to the buffer is not necessary. Several samples, especially glasses, have been analyzed successfully.

Abstract: The pseudorandom binary sequence is applied to the parameter estimation of discrete-time systems. The proposed method, based on the correlation analysis, gives a computationally simple and effective way of parameter estimation. The estimates of the parameters are shown to be asymptotically unbiased.

TL;DR: In this paper, a general method of theoretical calculation for the mechanical anisotropy of crystalline polymer solid using a transformation technique between two orientation distribution functions of structural units for two sets of Cartesian coordinates was proposed.
Abstract: The macroscopic mechanical anisotropy (i.e., Young's modulus) of polymer solid may be explained in terms of the orientation of structural units having intrinsic mechanical anisotropy. In this paper, we propose a general method of theoretical calculation for the mechanical anisotropy of crystalline polymer solid using a transformation technique between two orientation distribution functions of structural units for two sets of Cartesian coordinates, i.e., a mutual conversion between two series of expansion coefficients of distribution functions. On carring out the calculation of Young's modulus of bulk specimen, we took two ways based upon the difference in the representation of structural units and in the method of averaging them. One of them was made up by averaging the aggregation of structural units composed of anisotropic crystalline and isotropic noncrystalline phases on the basis of the homogeneous strain hypothesis, while the other by macroscopically combinning an averaged crystalline and an averaged noncrystalline unit on the basis of the homogeneous stress hypothesis.

TL;DR: In this article, a rotating sector experiment in benzyl butyrate gave kp = 1410 dm3 mol−1 s−1 for this viscous monomer, which was essentially identical with the previous result.
Abstract: The unusually large propagation rate constant for benzyl methacrylate reported in the previous paper was studied in more detail. The decomposition rate of 2,2′-azoisobutyronitrile in this viscous monomer was somewhat smaller than in ordinary solvents. A regular monomer kinetic order could be realized in butanol and in benzyl butyrate whose viscosities were very similar to that of the monomer. A rotating sector experiment in benzyl butyrate gave kp = 1410 dm3 mol−1 s−1 for this monomer, which was essentially identical with the previous result.

TL;DR: In this article, the magnetic properties of the Heisenberg spin system with the first and second-neighbor exchange interactions, J 1 (>0) and J 2 (<0), are investigated more extensively than in the previous paper.
Abstract: By making use of the statistical-mechanical calculation based upon the method of expansion into inverse-temperature power series, magnetic properties of the Heisenberg spin system ( S =1/2) with the first- and second-neighbor exchange interactions, J 1 (>0) and J 2 (<0), are investigated more extensively than in the previous paper. It is shown that the system exhibits more various magnetic properties depending on the exchange ratio α= J 2 / J 1 ; that is, it exhibits, in the order of decreasing α, a usual ferromagnetism, ferromagnetism accompanied with a type of metamagnetism which is named “exchange-compensated paramagnetism”, a sole exchange-compensated paramagnetism and antiferromagnetism, the last of which is of no concern in the present paper. These properties have been significantly recognized in the observations on the compound series, Co(S x Se 1- x ) 2 .

TL;DR: In this paper, the minority carrier lifetime of silicon solar cells was estimated based on the Shockley-Read equation, assuming the introduction rate, capture cross-section and the energy level to be equal to those of various predominant recombination centers.
Abstract: Numerical analysis of the characteristics of silicon solar cells underγ-ray or fast neutron irradiation is presented. The degradation of spectral response, short-circuit current, maximum power, open-circuit voltage and curve power factor are discussed. The calculation is based on estimating the minority carrier lifetime by the Shockley-Read equation, assuming the introduction rate, capture cross-section and the energy level to be equal to those of various predominant recombination centres, such as E-centre (phosphorus-vacancy complex), A-centre (oxygen-vacancy complex) and J′-centre (boron-vacancy complex) inγ-irradiated silicon single crystals. The simulated results show good agreement with experiment for N-type F·Z and C·Z bulk crystals with E-centres, and for P-type C·Z bulk crystal with J′-centres.

TL;DR: In this article, the experimental data of Young's modulus for simultaneous-biaxially stretched films are located between those calculated theoretically in two extreme cases on the basis of homogeneous stress and the homogeneous strain hypotheses, for averaging the aggregation of structural units composed of crystalline and noncrystalline phases.
Abstract: The mechanical anisotropies (Young's Modulus) of orthogonal- biaxially stretched PVA films, such as simultaneous, strip and two-step, are investigated experimentally and theoretically, and discussed in terms of the orientation of crystallites being intrinsically anisotropic in mechanical properties. The theoretical results were obtained by means of the calculation, on the basis of both the homogenous stress and the homogenous strain hypothesis, for averaging the aggregation of structural units composed of crystalline and noncrystalline phases. The comparison between the experimental results and those calculated for each of three types of orthogonal-biaxially stretched films indicates the following:1) The experimental data of Young's modulus for simultaneous-biaxially stretched films are located between those calculated theoretically in two extreme cases on the basis of the homogeneous stress and the homogeneous strain hypotheses. On the calculation, the preferential orientation of the plane-normal vectors around the crystalline chain axis was considered.2) The calculated Young's modulus of strip-biaxially stretched films based on the homogeneous stress hypothesis are rather close to the observed.3) The change of Young's modulus of two-step-biaxially stretched films accompanies with the draw ratio λ3 and λ2 along two principal stretching directions. The calculated Young's modulus based on the homogeneous stress hypothesis follows to the change of the observed Young's modulus with draw ratio λ3×λ2.

TL;DR: In this paper, plate efficiencies incorporating the thermal effects have been applied to distillation calculations by matrix, successive iteration and plate-top-plate methods, and the convergence process by means of matrix and successive iteration methods has been illustrated.
Abstract: Although the well-known assumptions, constant molar rate and random mixing of liquid on the tray, are used, plate efficiencies incorporating the thermal effects have been applied to distillation calculations by matrix, successive iteration and plate-top-plate methods. Using the numerical example of a ternary system, it has been demonstrated that the distillation calculation using the plate efficeincy has great influence on the determination of the composition profile as well as the designation of the distillation column. For a quaternary distillation system, the convergence process by means of matrix and successive iteration methods has been illustrated.

TL;DR: In this paper, the impurity redistribution in silicon substrates of MOSFET's is estimated from the measurement of dc voltage-current characteristics using the exact theory of the effect of substrate bias.
Abstract: The impurity redistribution in silicon substrates of MOSFET's is estimated from the measurement of dc voltage-current characteristics using the exact theory of the effect of substrate bias. The usefulness of the present method depends upon the acceptability of substituting the Fermi potential before thermal treatments for that after thermal treatments, which then allows for the direct calculation of the impurity concentration. The accuracy of the present method is given theoretically by the discussion of relative errors.

Abstract: The radiation-resistance properties of copper-contaminated n/p type cells are observed only when the copper concentration is larger than the boron density in the bulk region of the cells. The values of Δ(1/L2) on n/p type cells are not always proportional to the boron density in the bulk region.

Abstract: New metal indicators, 7 -(2-hydroxy-1-naphthylazo)-8-hydroxy-quinoline-5-sulfonic acids were synthesized. Among them 7-(6-nitro-4-sulfo-2-hydroxy-1-naphthylazo)-8-hydrqxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid(NH-SNAZOXS) is recommended as an indicator for the titration of iron(III) with EDTA. The sharp color change at the equivalence point from yellow to violet is obtained at pH 2.0 to 3.0 at 50°.
