TL;DR: Results reveal that Ce6&CO@FADP is an efficient and safe antibacterial system, which has essential application prospects for the treatment of bacterial infections and ablation of biofilms in vivo.
Abstract: In recent years, with the emergence of various kinds of drug-resistant bacteria, existing antibiotics have become inefficient in killing these bacteria, and the formation of biofilms has further weakened the therapeutic effect. More problematically, the massive use and abuse of antibiotics have caused severe side effects. Thus, the development of ultra-efficient and safe antibacterial systems is urgently needed. Herein, a photodynamic therapy (PDT)-driven CO-controlled delivery system (Ce6&CO@FADP) is developed for synergistic antibacterial and ablation biofilms. Ce6&CO@FADP is constructed using a fluorinated amphiphilic dendritic peptide (FADP) and physically loaded with Ce6 and CORM-401. After efficiently entering the bacteria, Ce6&CO@FADP can rapidly release CO intracellularly by the massive consumption of the H2O2 generated during the PDT process, without affecting the generation of singlet oxygen (1O2). As such, the combination of CO and 1O2 exerts notable synergistic antibacterial and biofilm ablation effects both in vitro and in vivo (including subcutaneous bacterial infection and biofilm catheter models) experiments. More importantly, all biosafety assessments suggest the good biocompatibility of Ce6&CO@FADP. Together, these results reveal that Ce6&CO@FADP is an efficient and safe antibacterial system, which has essential application prospects for the treatment of bacterial infections and ablation of biofilms in vivo.

TL;DR: In this paper, the mesopore sizes in the carbon nitride are centered at 3.8 nm and 10-40 nm, and the nitrogen atom exists in C-N and N-H states.
Abstract: Bimodal mesoporous carbon nitride is synthesized using Triton X-100 as a template and melamine and glutaraldehyde as precursors through polymerization and carbonization. The structures and surface chemical properties of carbon nitrides are characterized and compared by nitrogen adsorption isotherms, TG, FT-IR spectra and SEM images. The results show that the mesopore sizes in the carbon nitride are centered at 3.8 nm and 10–40 nm. The pyrolysis and decomposition of the polymer to form the condensation cross-linking ring structures takes place at 350–700 °C. The nitrogen atom in the carbon nitride exists in C–N and N–H states. As a Candida rugosalipase immobilization support, the mesoporous carbon nitride displays a higher amount of immobilization and improves the thermal stability of Candida rugosalipase, which still displays higher catalytic activity after 4 runs.

TL;DR: In this paper, a 3D finite element model is developed to simulate and analyze the temperature and degree of cure field of epoxy casting part during cure process, which is verified by literature example and experimental data.
Abstract: A 3-dimensional finite element model is developed to simulate and analyze the temperature and degree of cure field of epoxy casting part during cure process. The present model based on general finite element software ABAQUS is verified by literature example and experimental data. The numerical results show good agreement with literature example and measured data, and are even more accurate than the simulation of literature. After modeling successfully, the influence of temperature cure cycle ramps have on the temperature and degree of cure gradient is investigated. Moreover, the effect of non-uniform temperature and degree of cure field within epoxy casting part on hardness is demonstrated. The present model provides an accurate and novel method that allows further insight into the process of cure for epoxy resin.

TL;DR: This work designs a smart plasmonic nanobiosensor based on individual Au@Ag core-shell nanocube modified with tetrahedron-structured DNA (tsDNA) for detecting microRNA 21 (miR-21) at the single-molecule level and enables DNA-based logic operations as well as biomemory by exploiting miR- 21, KpnI, and StuI-responsive assays.
Abstract: Analysis of biomolecules at the single-molecule level is a great challenge in molecular diagnostics, gene profiling, and environmental monitoring. In this work, we design a smart plasmonic nanobiosensor based on individual Au@Ag core–shell nanocube (Au@Ag NC) modified with tetrahedron-structured DNA (tsDNA) for detecting microRNA 21 (miR-21) at the single-molecule level. An average localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) scattering spectral wavelength shift of approximately 0.4 nm can be obtained for a single miR-21 hybridization event on the nanobiosensor. In addition, the sensing mechanism of the individual Au@Ag NC is further verified by the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (3D-FDTD) simulations. Notably, this system not only allows the real-time detection of miR-21 with an aM level sensitivity over a large dynamic range from 1 aM to 1 nM, but also enables DNA-based logic operations as well as biomemory by exploiting miR-21, KpnI, and StuI-responsive assays. Our study opens a unique m...
