TL;DR: Two methods for determination of the acoustic nonlinearity parameter B/A in biological media are presented, including the finite amplitude insert-substitution method (FAIS) and the improved thermodynamic method (ITD), based on the measurement of phase shifts in the acoustic wave due to the change of ambient pressure.
Abstract: Two methods for determination of the acoustic nonlinearity parameter B/A in biological media are presented One is the finite amplitude insert‐substitution method (FAIS), considering the influence of both the sound attenuation of samples and the diffraction of the transducer on the experimental measurement The other is the improved thermodynamic method (ITD), based on the measurement of phase shifts in the acoustic wave due to the change of ambient pressure The nonlinearity parameter B/A has been measured for various biological solutions and soft tissues using these two methods Some results of dependence of B/A values on the concentration and temperature are also presented here

TL;DR: The concept of a caustic is shown to be an excellent way of characterizing SAW focusing by a circular-arc interdigital transducer on YZ-LiNbO/sub 3/.
Abstract: Using the angular spectrum theory and experimental velocity data of surface acoustic waves (SAW) on YZ-LiNbO/sub 3/, the focusing characteristics of a circular-arc interdigital transducer have been demonstrated. The calculated results show that the depth of focus is long and the compressed acoustic beam width is very narrow. The concept of a caustic is shown to be an excellent way of characterizing SAW focusing by a circular-arc interdigital transducer on YZ-LiNbO/sub 3/. Comparison between theoretical and experimental results shows good agreement. >

TL;DR: XPS and AES was used to detect phosphorus on electropolished copper obtained using different hydroxyethylidenediphosphonic acid HEDP) concentrations, different pH, and various solutions (H 3 PO 4, HEDPs, and HEDPS+H 3PO 4 ) as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: XPS and AES was used to detect phosphorus on electropolished copper obtained using different hydroxyethylidenediphosphonic acid HEDP) concentrations, different pH, and various solutions (H 3 PO 4 , HEDP, and HEDP+H 3 PO 4 ). Since no phosphorus was detected on the copper surface, the viscous liquid film that formed could be easily eliminated by washing. The viscous liquid film obtained from the H 3 PO 4 +HEDP solution possesses very good film forming characteristics. The composition of viscous film was established from the constant composition region of the depth profile curve and is considered to be a polynuclear coordination polymeric compound with a structural unit approximately of [Cu 4 (PO 4 ) (HEDP)] n

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show the continuity of the feasibility set with respect to the reliability levels and the distribution of the random elements of a stochastic program with probabilistic constraints.
Abstract: In this paper, we show the continuity of the feasibility set with respect to the reliability levels and with respect to the distribution of the random elements of a stochastic program with probabilistic constraints. Continuity is then used to obtain stability results for this type of stochastic program. An easy criterion is given for checking the conditions which guarantee the continuity of the feasibility set.

TL;DR: In this article, internal friction and elastic modulus on Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system reveal that a certain kind of phase transition take place a few tens degrees higher than Tc.
Abstract: Measurements of internal friction and elastic modulus on Bi–Sr–Ca–Cu–O system reveal that a certain kind of phase transition take place a few tens degrees higher than Tc. X-ray diffraction measurements show that the symmetry remains unchanged from room temperature to 77 K but the lattice parameters jump at the transition temperatures. Ferroelastic loop were measured around the temperatures mentioned above, which indicates the existence of movable boundaries and elastic softening. It is considered that the instability favor the superconducting transition followed.

Abstract: For a typical anisotropic magnetic superlattice, magnetic polaritons and magnetostatic spin waves in the Voigt geometry are analyzed in the framework of the vector potential representation. Special emphasis is given to the new frequency window of the polaritons characteristic of this anisotropic superlattice. Unique features of the spectra in contrast to those found in usual structures are examined.

TL;DR: In this article, the velocity and attenuation vs temperature of ultrasonic longitudinal wave propagated along two directions in the c-plane at 10° to the a and b axes were measured for a Bi2Sr2CA1Cu2O8 single crystal.
Abstract: The velocity and attenuation vs temperature of ultrasonic longitudinal wave propagated along two directions in the c-plane at 10° to the a and b axes were measured for a Bi2Sr2CA1Cu2O8 single crystal. The anisotropic elasticity in the c-plane is manifested. One direction shows obvious softening minimum around 250 K, the other reveals only monotonic stiffening down to Tc. The origin of the overall trend of elastic stiffening and some discrepancies appearing in the measurements so far for high Tc materials are analyzed or clarified. Attenuation peaks at 95K, 150K, and 250K are attributed to phase-like transition of first order.

TL;DR: The propagation and interaction of light in the two-dimensional optical superlattice were investigated by the dynamical theory with the four-wave approximation, which is based on an incident beam that satisfies Bragg conditions in two orthogonal directions.
Abstract: The propagation and interaction of light in the two-dimensional optical superlattice, a two-dimensional periodically modulated medium, were investigated by the dynamical theory with the four-wave approximation, which is based on an incident beam that satisfies Bragg conditions in two orthogonal directions. The excited fields and the intensities of exiting waves in the two-dimensional optical superlattice were calculated. The relation between relative intensities of the exiting waves and angular deviation of the incident beam as well as the index-modulated parameters of the superlattice was obtained. Also discussed are possible applications of the superlattices in optical communications.
