TL;DR: It is hoped that the improved manipulation techniques of bismuthene, along with its unique properties, might even enable 2D Bi to play an important role in future energy-related twistronics.
Abstract: Since graphene has been successfully exfoliated, two-dimensional (2D) materials constitute a vibrant research field and open vast perspectives in high-performance applications. Among them, bismuthene and 2D bismuth (Bi) are unique with superior properties to fabricate state-of-the-art energy saving, storage and conversion devices. The largest experimentally determined bulk gap, even larger than those of stanene and antimonene, allows 2D Bi to be the most promising candidate to construct room-temperature topological insulators. Moreover, 2D Bi exhibits cyclability for high-performance sodium-ion batteries, and the enlarged surface together with the good electrochemical activity renders it an efficient electrocatalyst for energy conversion. Also, the air-stability of 2D Bi is better than that of silicene, germanene, phosphorene and arsenene, which could enable more practical applications. This review aims to thoroughly explore the fundamentals of 2D Bi and its improved fabrication methods, in order to further bridge gaps between theoretical predictions and experimental achievements in its energy-related applications. We begin with an introduction of the status of 2D Bi in the 2D-material family, which is followed by descriptions of its intrinsic properties along with various fabrication methods. The vast implications of 2D Bi for high-performance devices can be envisioned to add a new pillar in energy sciences. In addition, in the context of recent pioneering studies on moire superlattices of other 2D materials, we hope that the improved manipulation techniques of bismuthene, along with its unique properties, might even enable 2D Bi to play an important role in future energy-related twistronics.

TL;DR: In this work, in terms of PEC measurements and cyclic voltammetry, the PEC behaviors of PCN-222 in aqueous media were thoroughly investigated for the first time and provide a promising platform for clinic diagnostic and therapeutics.
Abstract: A simple and rapid photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor was developed for the label-free detection of a phosphoprotein (α-casein) based on a zirconium based porphyrinic metal–organic framework (MOF), PCN-222, which exhibited an enhanced photocurrent response toward dopamine under the O2-saturated aqueous media. In this work, in terms of PEC measurements and cyclic voltammetry, the PEC behaviors of PCN-222 in aqueous media were thoroughly investigated for the first time. Additionally, in the virtue of the steric hindrance effect from the coordination of the phosphate groups and inorganic Zr–O clusters as binding sites in PCN-222, this biosensor showed high sensitivity for detecting α-casein and the limit of detection (LOD) was estimated to be 0.13 μg mL–1. Moreover, the proposed method provides a promising platform for clinic diagnostic and therapeutics.

TL;DR: A new effective multiple kernel learning algorithm that can maximally correlate the m views in the transformed coordinates and introduces a special term called Inter-Function Similarity Loss RIFSI into the existing regularization framework so as to guarantee the agreement of multiview outputs.
Abstract: In this paper, we develop a new effective multiple kernel learning algorithm. First, we map the input data into m different feature spaces by m empirical kernels, where each generated feature space is taken as one view of the input space. Then, through borrowing the motivating argument from Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) that can maximally correlate the m views in the transformed coordinates, we introduce a special term called Inter-Function Similarity Loss RIFSI. into the existing regularization framework so as to guarantee the agreement of multiview outputs. In implementation, we select the Modification of Ho-Kashyap algorithm with Squared approximation of the misclassification errors (MHKS) as the incorporated paradigm and the experimental results on benchmark data sets demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm named MultiK-MHKS.

TL;DR: The formation processes of barrier anodic alumina (BAA) and porous anodic aluminium (PAA) are discussed in detail and the formation of nanopores can be ascribed to the oxygen evolution within the oxide.
Abstract: The formation processes of barrier anodic alumina (BAA) and porous anodic alumina (PAA) are discussed in detail. The anodizing current J(T) within the oxide includes ionic current j(ion) and electronic current j(e) during the anodizing process. The j(ion) is used to form an oxide and the j(e) is used to give rise to oxygen gas or sparking. The j(e) results from the impurity centers within the oxide. For a given electrolyte, the j(e) is dependent on the impurity centers and independent of the J(T). The formation of nanopores can be ascribed to the oxygen evolution within the oxide. Oxygen gas will begin to be released at the critical thickness d(c). The manner of the development of PAA is in accordance with that of BAA. The differences between PAA and BAA are the magnitude of j(e) or the continuity of oxygen evolution. There are two competitive reactions, i.e. oxide growth (2Al3 + 3O2- --> Al2O3) and oxygen evolution (2O2- --> O2 up arrow + 4e). The former keeps the wall of the channel lengthened, the latter keeps the channel open. By controlling the release rate of oxygen gas under different pressures, the shape of the channels can be adjusted. The present results may open up some opportunities for fabricating special templates.
