TL;DR: The energy conversion efficiency and the long-term stability of perovskite LEDs are inadequate for practical application, and strategies to optimize the emitting layer and the device structure, with respect to material design, synthesis, surface passivation, and device optimization are reviewed and highlighted.
Abstract: Metal halide perovskites have drawn significant interest in the past decade. Superior optoelectronic properties, such as a narrow bandwidth, precise and facile tunable luminance over the entire visible spectrum, and high photoluminescence quantum yield of up to ≈100%, render metal halide perovskites suitable for next-generation high-definition displays and healthy lighting systems. The external quantum efficiency of perovskite light-emitting diodes (LEDs) increases from 0.1 to 11.7% in three years; however, the energy conversion efficiency and the long-term stability of perovskite LEDs are inadequate for practical application. Strategies to optimize the emitting layer and the device structure, with respect to material design, synthesis, surface passivation, and device optimization, are reviewed and highlighted. The long-term stability of perovskite LEDs is evaluated as well. Meanwhile, several challenges and prospects for future development of perovskite materials and LEDs are identified.

TL;DR: In this article, a structure-aware convolutional network is proposed to explicitly take priors about the structure of human bodies into account during training of the deep network for human pose estimation.
Abstract: For human pose estimation in monocular images, joint occlusions and overlapping upon human bodies often result in deviated pose predictions. Under these circumstances, biologically implausible pose predictions may be produced. In contrast, human vision is able to predict poses by exploiting geometric constraints of joint inter-connectivity. To address the problem by incorporating priors about the structure of human bodies, we propose a novel structure-aware convolutional network to implicitly take such priors into account during training of the deep network. Explicit learning of such constraints is typically challenging. Instead, we design discriminators to distinguish the real poses from the fake ones (such as biologically implausible ones). If the pose generator (G) generates results that the discriminator fails to distinguish from real ones, the network successfully learns the priors.

TL;DR: A novel adaptive protocol is proposed for the switched nonlinear MASs based on the developed design framework and the neural network method and a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
Abstract: In this brief, the practical finite-time consensus (FTC) problem is investigated for the second-order heterogeneous switched nonlinear multi-agent systems (MASs), where the subsystems and the switching signal for each agent are different. Mainly due to that agents’ dynamics are switched and the unknown nonlinearities in the systems are more general, the practical FTC problem of the MASs is rather difficult to be solved by existing methods. As such, a new protocol design framework for the FTC problem is developed. Then, a novel adaptive protocol is proposed for the switched nonlinear MASs based on the developed design framework and the neural network method. The sufficient conditions for the practical FTC of nonlinear MASs under arbitrary switching are given. Finally, a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

TL;DR: It is shown that, through surface ligand functionalization during direct solution growth at RT, pure FAPbI3 in the cubic perovskite phase can be stabilized in nanostructures and thin films at RT without cation or anion alloying.
Abstract: Metastable structural polymorphs can have superior properties and applications to their thermodynamically stable phases, but the rational synthesis of metastable phases is a challenge. Here, a new strategy for stabilizing metastable phases using surface functionalization is demonstrated using the example of formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI3) perovskite, which is metastable at room temperature (RT) but holds great promises in solar and light-emitting applications. We show that, through surface ligand functionalization during direct solution growth at RT, pure FAPbI3 in the cubic perovskite phase can be stabilized in nanostructures and thin films at RT without cation or anion alloying. Surface characterizations reveal that long-chain alkyl or aromatic ammonium (LA) cations bind to the surface of perovskite structure. Calculations show that such functionalization reduces the surface energy and plays a dominant role in stabilizing the metastable perovskite phase. Excellent photophysics and optically pumped la...
