TL;DR: The present new species of Triatoma Laporte represents the 6th species of this genus from Asia and the 2nd species from China and may be distin-guished from T. bouvieri Larrousse by a longer pronotum, as well as differences in the body coloration and in the structure of antennae.
Abstract: Most species of Triatoma Laporte are distributed in the Neotropical region. InAsia, in addition to the tropicopolitan species T. rubrofasciata De Geer, there have beenrecorded T. migrans Breddin from Java and Sumatra, T. rubrovaria Blanchard and T.pugasi Lent from Java and T. bouvieri Larrousse from Vietnam. The present new speciesrepresents the 6th species of this genus from Asia and the 2nd species from China. Itmay be diagnosed as follows: Triatoma sinica, sp. nov. (Fig. 1) Brownish, with ochraceus markings; posterior part of head, pronotum, scutellum andmiddle of connexival segments dark brown; collum, rostrum, anterior and lateral mar-gins of pronotum, three longitudinal stripes on pronotal disk, elongate markings on calli, middle and prolongation of secutellum, basal stripe and apical median spot on coriumand anterior and posterior margins of connexival segments all ochraceus; antennae, costalarea of corium and base of clavus darkened. ?. Length 22 mm, width of abdomen 8.2 mm. Head with length 3.0 mm, widththrough eyes 2.2 mm, width of vertex 0.95 mm, length of anteocular part 1.5 mm, of post-ocular part 0.5 mm. Vertex transversely rugulose medianly, convexed posteriorly, dis-tinctly impressed behind base of clypeus; clypeus prominent, distinctly higher than juga, much thickened posteriorly; length of antennal segments, 0.9: 4.1: 2.6: 2.2 mm; length ofrostral segments, 1.2: 1.9: 0.65 mm. Pronotum with length 4.0 mm, width 5.7 mm, an-terior angles dentate, posterior lobe twice as long as anterior lobe, lateral angles rounded, posterior margin broadly rounded. Scutellum transversely rugose, apical spine cylingrical.Hemelytra not reaching apex of abdomen, finely rugulose. ?. Lafger, 1st and 2nd antennal segments comparatively shorter. Holotype ?, Nanking, Ⅵ 20. 1955. Allotype ?, Nanking, Ⅵ 22. 1955. paratype?, taken with allotype (Nankai Uni. Coll.). Allied to T. rubrofasciata De Geer, but larger, surface of body not granulate, headmuch shorter than pronotum; 2nd antennal segment longer, anterior angles of pronotumshorter, scutellar spine not distinctly tenuate apically. The new species may be distin-guished from T. migrans Breddin and T. bouvieri Larrousse by a longer pronotum, as wellas differences in the body coloration and in the structure of antennae.
