TL;DR: Silver nanoparticles were successfully supported on the zeolite-type metal-organic framework MIL-101 to yield Ag@MIL-101 by a simple liquid impregnation method and for the first time, the conversion of terminal alkynes into propiolic acids with CO2 was achieved by the use of the Ag@mil-101 catalysts.
Abstract: Silver nanoparticles were successfully supported on the zeolite-type metal–organic framework MIL-101 to yield Ag@MIL-101 by a simple liquid impregnation method. For the first time, the conversion of terminal alkynes into propiolic acids with CO2 was achieved by the use of the Ag@MIL-101 catalysts. Owing to the excellent catalytic activity, the reaction proceeded at atmospheric pressure and low temperature (50 °C). The Ag@MIL-101 porous material is of outstanding bifunctional character as it is capable of simultaneously capturing and converting CO2 with low energy consumption and can be recovered easily by centrifugation.

TL;DR: An in-situ electrochemical induction strategy was developed to fabricate MOF-derived composite of amorphous V 2 O 5 and carbon materials for the first time, where the V2 O 5 is amorphously state and uniformly distributed in carbon framework.
Abstract: The electrochemical performance of vanadium-oxide-based cathodes in aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) depends on their degree of crystallinity and composite state with carbon materials. An in situ electrochemical induction strategy was developed to fabricate a metal-organic-framework-derived composite of amorphous V2 O5 and carbon materials (a-V2 O5 @C) for the first time, where V2 O5 is in an amorphous state and uniformly distributed in the carbon framework. The amorphous structure endows V2 O5 with more isotropic Zn2+ diffusion routes and active sites, resulting in fast Zn2+ transport and high specific capacity. The porous carbon framework provides a continuous electron transport pathway and ion diffusion channels. As a result, the a-V2 O5 @C composites display extraordinary electrochemical performance. This work will pave the way toward design of ZIB cathodes with superior rate performance.

TL;DR: Dielectric AlGaAs nanoantennas are demonstrated for efficient second harmonic generation and the control of both directionality and polarization of nonlinear emission, enabled by specialized III-V semiconductor nanofabrication of high-quality Al GaAs nanostructures embedded in optically transparent low-index material.
Abstract: The quest for nanoscale light sources with designer radiation patterns and polarization has motivated the development of nanoantennas that interact strongly with the incoming light and are able to transform its frequency, radiation, and polarization patterns. Here, we demonstrate dielectric AlGaAs nanoantennas for efficient second harmonic generation, enabling the control of both directionality and polarization of nonlinear emission. This is enabled by specialized III–V semiconductor nanofabrication of high-quality AlGaAs nanostructures embedded in optically transparent low-index material, thus allowing for simultaneous forward and backward nonlinear emission. We show that the nanodisk AlGaAs antennas can emit second harmonic in preferential direction with a backward-to-forward ratio of up to five and can also generate complex vector polarization beams, including beams with radial polarization.

TL;DR: In this article, a dynamic tridimensional adsorption of the OER intermediates at NiO/NiFe layered double hydroxide intersection is proposed to bypass the scaling relationship and achieve high catalytic performance.
Abstract: Oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is a pivotal reaction in many technologies for renewable energy, such as water splitting, metal-air batteries, and regenerative fuel cells. However, this reaction is known to be kinetically sluggish and proceeds at rather high overpotential due to the universal scaling relationship, namely, the adsorption energies of intermediates are linearly correlated and cannot be optimized simultaneously. Several approaches have been proposed to break the scaling relationship by introducing additional active sites; however, positive experimental results are still absent. Herein, a different solution is suggested on the basis of dynamic tridimensional adsorption of the OER intermediates at NiO/NiFe layered double hydroxide intersection, by which the adsorption energy of each intermediate can be adjusted independently, so as to bypass the scaling relationship and achieve high catalytic performance. Experimentally, the OER overpotential is reduced to ≈205 mV at current density of 30 mA cm-2 , which represents the best performance achieved by state-of-the-art OER catalysts.
