TL;DR: In this paper, a linear fluid shear in a flat-plate thermal diffusion column was applied to increase the separation efficiency by improving the cascading effect of the shear, and an improvement in separation was obtained by employing the moving-wall column, operating at the best wall velocity and the best angle of inclination instead of using the stationary wall column placed in vertical position.

TL;DR: In this paper, the isotopic exchange reaction of calcium ion and calcium oxalate has been studied using 45Ca as tracer, and the activation energies of the exchange reaction at interface and the particle diffusion in the solid, are calculated to be 9·27 kcal per mole and 7·70 kcal per mole, respectively.

TL;DR: In this article, a generalized semi-empirical equation has been developed to predict the diffusivity of binary systems as a function of pressure and temperature, and a comparison of this equation with data appearing in the literature yields and average error of 3.5%.

TL;DR: In this paper, a design method for the low sensitivity optimal modal feedback control of a class of linear distributed-parameter systems with distributed control is presented, which can be decomposed by a set of non-interacting first-order ordinary differential equations.
Abstract: This paper presents a design method for the low sensitivity optimal modal feedback control of a class of linear distributed-parameter systems with distributed control. The systems are described by differential operators which can be decomposed by a set of non-interacting first-order ordinary differential equations. Optimal control theory of lumped-parameter systems is then applied to construct the control late with modal feedback. Sensitivity of the optimal system is analysed. Modal state and control sensitivity functions are defined and low sensitivity modal feedback control law is constructed. The superiority of the low sensitivity modal feedback control system to the standard optimal control system is illustrated by a numerical example.

TL;DR: In this article, energy spectra in deep water area are to be changed to histograms, and every stripe of the histogram is to represent an elementary small amplitude wave, the deformation of such elementary waves over intermediate water area can be calculated theoretically by energy flux equation.
Abstract: In order to devise more rational approach to predicat the wave features in intermediate water area, energy spectra in deep water area are to be changed to histograms, and every stripe of the histogram is to represent an elementary small amplitude wave. The deformation of such elementary waves over intermediate water area can be calculated theoretically by energy flux equation. Spectra in intermediate area can be worked out by summing up the wave energies deformed by shoaling, bottom friction and refraction. Calculation are carried out by computer. The peak of spectra will never change when it propagates from deep water to intermediate water area if the bottom contours are parallel to the shore line. Tangible process for using this approach to practical engineering problems is pending investigation.

TL;DR: This paper presents a set of charts for synthesis and analysis of linear control systems in the frequency domain based on approximation to a third-order system, that is, a closed-loop transfer function with two complex poles, one real pole and one real zero.
Abstract: This paper presents a set of charts for synthesis and analysis of linear control systems in the frequency domain based on approximation to a third-order system, that is, a closed-loop transfer function with two complex poles, one real pole and one real zero. It involves the specifications of both open-loop and closed-loop systems. Since a set of similar charts for time domain have already been developed, this approach can be applied to most practical linear control systems, either in the frequency domain or the time domain. Three examples are given.
