TL;DR: In this paper, a planar complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) was used to measure the dielectric constants and loss tangents of material under test (MUT) using the equivalent RLC resonator circuit model.
Abstract: A noninvasive planar complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) for measuring the dielectric constants and loss tangents of material is presented in this letter. Measurements were developed to extract the complex permittivity of the material under test (MUT) using the equivalent RLC resonator circuit model. This technique enables a single-step measurement of the MUT without the need for machining or reshaping. The method requires calculating only two parameters, the resonant frequency (fr) and the magnitude (dB) response, thus achieving a substantial reduction in cost and computation time. A CSRR sensor operating in the 1.8 to 2.8 GHz band is fabricated and tested for verification. The measurement errors in the dielectric constant were less than 7.6%. An efficient technique of CSRR measuring complex permittivity is experimentally verified.

02 Nov 2010TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors proposed a trajectory similarity measurement, namely, Maximal Semantic Trajectory Pattern Similarity (MSTP-Similarity), which measures the semantic similarity between trajectories.
Abstract: In recent years, research on measuring trajectory similarity has attracted a lot of attentions. Most of similarities are defined based on the geographic features of mobile users' trajectories. However, trajectories geographically close may not necessarily be similar because the activities implied by nearby landmarks they pass through may be different. In this paper, we argue that a better similarity measurement should have taken into account the semantics of trajectories. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for recommending potential friends based on users' semantic trajectories for location-based social networks. The core of our proposal is a novel trajectory similarity measurement, namely, Maximal Semantic Trajectory Pattern Similarity (MSTP-Similarity), which measures the semantic similarity between trajectories. Accordingly, we propose a user similarity measurement based on MSTP-Similarity of user trajectories and use it as the basis for recommending potential friends to a user. Through experimental evaluation, the proposed friend recommendation approach is shown to deliver excellent performance.

01 Mar 2016TL;DR: Drawing from latent state-trait theory, heuristic information processing, and observational learning, the effect of the information quality of the advertisement, the trait of the impulsiveness, and the number of "likes" it receives on consumers' urge to buy impulsively is investigated.
Abstract: Facebook users are increasingly using the site to conduct commercial activities, by posting advertisements in groups and then buying or selling items from each other. This type of group is called as a C2C Facebook "buy and sell" group in the current work. Drawing from latent state-trait theory, heuristic information processing, and observational learning, we conducted an online field experiment to empirically investigate the effect of the information quality of the advertisement, the trait of the impulsiveness, and the number of "likes" it receives on consumers' urge to buy impulsively. The findings and implications of our study are discussed in the paper.

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of water-containing ABE-diesel blends were investigated to simulate the use of ABE fermentation products without dehydration and no addition of surfactants, and it was found that ABE20W0.5 enhanced brake thermal efficiencies (BTE) by 3.26-8.56%.
