Abstract: In this paper, the short-term load forecast by use of autoregressive moving average (ARMA) model including non-Gaussian process considerations is proposed. In the proposed method, the concept of cumulant and bispectrum are embedded into the ARMA model in order to facilitate Gaussian and non-Gaussian process. With embodiment of a Gaussianity verification procedure, the forecasted model is identified more appropriately. Therefore, the performance of ARMA model is better ensured, improving the load forecast accuracy significantly. The proposed method has been applied on a practical system and the results are compared with other published techniques.

TL;DR: The complete electrode model, which includes the effects of discretization of the current pattern, the shunt effect due to the highly conductive electrode material, and the effect of an effective contact impedance, allows calculation of the voltages due to any current pattern applied to a homogeneous resistivity field.
Abstract: A mathematical model for the physical properties of electrodes suitable for use in electric current computed tomography is discussed. The model includes the effects of discretization, shunt, and contact impedance. The complete model was validated by experiment. Bath resistivities of 284.0, 139.7, 62.3, and 29.5 Omega -cm were studied. Values of effective contact impedance used in the numerical approximations were 58.0, 35.0, 15.0, and 7.5 Omega -cm/sup 2/, respectively. Agreement between the calculated and experimentally measured values was excellent throughout the range of bath conductivities studied. It is desirable in electrical impedance imaging systems to model the observed voltages to the same precision as they are measured in order to be able to make the highest-resolution reconstructions of the internal conductivity that the measurement precision allows. The complete electrode model, which includes the effects of discretization of the current pattern, the shunt effect due to the highly conductive electrode material, and the effect of an effective contact impedance, allows calculation of the voltages due to any current pattern applied to a homogeneous resistivity field. >

TL;DR: Based on the evolutionary programming (EP) technique, the new algorithm is capable of determining the global or near global optimal dispatch solutions in the cases where the classical Lagrangian based algorithms cease to be applicable.
Abstract: This paper develops an efficient, general economic dispatch (ED) algorithm for generating units with nonsmooth fuel cost functions. Based on the evolutionary programming (EP) technique, the new algorithm is capable of determining the global or near global optimal dispatch solutions in the cases where the classical Lagrangian based algorithms cease to be applicable. Effectiveness of the new algorithm is demonstrated on two example power systems and compared to that of the dynamic programming, simulated annealing, and genetic algorithms. Practical application of the developed algorithm is additionally verified on the Taiwan power (Taipower) system. Numerical results show that the proposed EP based ED algorithm can provide accurate dispatch solutions within reasonable time for any type of fuel cost functions.
