TL;DR: In this article, the authors study thermodynamic contributions to the theory of gravity under the q-deformed boson and fermion gas models, and show that the law of gravity is not based on Verlinde's proposal.
Abstract: In this paper, we study thermodynamical contributions to the theory of gravity under the q-deformed boson and fermion gas models. According to Verlinde’s proposal, the law of gravity is not based o...

TL;DR: The Lea Symbols chart offers a better pick-up rate of visual impairment during a vision-screening program especially cases of amblyopia among pre-school children compared to the Sheridan Gardiner chart in Malaysia.
Abstract: OBJECTIVE Compare the performance of Lea Symbols and Sheridan Gardiner charts against the standard test chart used to determine reduced VA during vision screening among pre-schoolers. MATERIAL AND METHOD Seven hundred seventy five pre-school participated where 389 subjects were boys and 386 subjects were girls were tested using the Lea Symbols chart and the Sheridan Gardiner chart. The mean age of the pre-school children was 5.3 +/- 0.7 years old. RESULTS The Lea Symbols chart showed a higher sensitivity (97.5%) compared to the Sheridan Gardiner chart (57.1%). While the Sheridan Gardiner chart showed higher specificity (92.0%) compared to the Lea Symbols chart (45.0%). CONCLUSION The Lea Symbols chart offers a better pick-up rate of visual impairment during a vision-screening program especially cases of amblyopia among pre-school children compared to the Sheridan Gardiner chart in Malaysia.

TL;DR: The extent to which, by applying the hyperknowledge framework and the holistic concept of man to decision support systems, these systems can be made to emulate human cognitive processes is examined.
Abstract: In the design, development and use of computer-based decision support systems, the ultimate challenge is how to arrange successful interaction between the computer and the active human being. This paper therefore examines the extent to which, by applying the hyperknowledge framework and the holistic concept of man to decision support systems, these systems can be made to emulate human cognitive processes. The approach is a new one, and represents an emerging paradigm for achieving holistic mapping and synergy between human decision making processes and computer configurations. The approach also takes account of the relations and interrelationships involved in both the situationality and the corporeality of the human actor.

TL;DR: In this article, the applicability of CAPM on Pakistan Stock Markets and Karachi Stock Exchange being the main capital market of Pakistan is taken for the study by taking a sample of 10 performing companies of 100 index of KSE for a period of five years from 2006 to 2010.
Abstract: Capital Assets Pricing Model is used as a tool for the estimation of Investments in Capital Markets with the relation of Expected return and Risk on Securities. This study examines the applicability of CAPM on Pakistan Stock Markets and Karachi Stock Exchange being the main capital market of Pakistan is taken for the study. The analysis is done by taking a sample of 10 performing companies of 100 index of KSE for a period of five years from 2006 to 2010. The monthly returns are taken and beta of each security is calculated which is used in the calculation of Expected returns. Microsoft Office (MS Excel) is used for most of the calculations. The empirical findings of this study do not support to the CAPM in Pakistan Stock Markets. In all three types of beta, it gives different results. The results of this study are in line with the previous researches conducted on Pakistan Stock markets but with different time periods and different sample size.
