TL;DR: Proabilistic risk assessment showed that 4-methylbenzylidene camphor (4-MBC) posed greater risk to algae, while benzophenone-3 (BP-3) and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (EHMC) were more likely to pose a risk to fishes and also posed high risk of bleaching in hard corals in aquatic recreational areas in Hong Kong.

TL;DR: In this paper, the size dependence of the coupling strength between electron and longitudinal optical phonon was experimentally estimated, and it was found that the Frohlich interaction plays the main role in electron-phonon coupling in ZnO.
Abstract: Raman spectra of ZnO powder and free-standing nanowires prepared by laser ablation have been studied. All observed vibrational modes in ZnO powder, both first order and higher order scattering, were assigned on the basis of group theoretical analysis. The size dependence of the coupling strength between electron and longitudinal optical (LO) phonon was experimentally estimated. It was found that the coupling strength determined by the ratio of second- to first-order Raman scattering cross sections diminishes with decreasing nanowire diameter, and the Frohlich interaction plays the main role in electron-phonon coupling in ZnO.

TL;DR: This study demonstrated that the use of gellan gum as a gelling reagent instead of agar was more effective at increasing culturability, cultivating a diverse array of novel microbes, and reducing the gaps of the results between molecular and cultivation-based analyses.
Abstract: Comparative analysis of bacterial diversity in freshwater sediment collected from a shallow eutrophic lake was performed by using 16S rRNA gene clone library and improved cultivation-based techniques. Our study demonstrated that the use of gellan gum as a gelling reagent instead of agar was more effective at increasing culturability, cultivating a diverse array of novel microbes, and reducing the gaps of the results between molecular and cultivation-based analyses.

TL;DR: It was found that gold nanoparticles over a wide size range, 3-14 nm, undergo a structural transformation from icosahedral to decahedral morphology just below the melting points, and it was clarified that the formation of bulk crystalline structures from the deca Cathedral morphology requires the melt-freeze process due to an insurmountable high free-energy barrier.
Abstract: Size- and temperature-dependent structural transitions in gold nanoparticles were revealed with morphology statistics obtained by high-resolution electron microscopic observations for thousands of particles annealed in a helium heat bath. We found that gold nanoparticles over a wide size range, 3-14 nm, undergo a structural transformation from icosahedral to decahedral morphology just below the melting points. It was also clarified that the formation of bulk crystalline structures from the decahedral morphology requires the melt-freeze process due to an insurmountable high free-energy barrier.
