01 Aug 2017TL;DR: This method works by first identifying the country of origin using certain predefined areas of interest, and then extracting the denomination value using characteristics such as size, color, or text on the note, depending on how much the notes within the same country differ.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a system for automated currency recognition using image processing techniques The proposed method can be used for recognizing both the country or origin as well as the denomination or value of a given banknote Only paper currencies have been considered This method works by first identifying the country of origin using certain predefined areas of interest, and then extracting the denomination value using characteristics such as size, color, or text on the note, depending on how much the notes within the same country differ We have considered 20 of the most traded currencies, as well as their denominations Our system is able to accurately and quickly identify test notes

01 Dec 2015TL;DR: This project tries to automatically detect the rumours spreading on Twitter and identify its source, and proposes an algorithm to find the origin of the rumoured tweets i.e. obtain the account information of the user who first started spreading rumours on Twitter.
Abstract: The number of people using social networking sites such as Twitter is exponentially increasing every day. These sites not only act as a platform for staying connected with friends and exchanging opinions and ideologies, but also help to share and disseminate information. Important events in the real world cause a huge flood of tweets on Twitter. During many such events, Twitter has been used to spread rumours and cause havoc and panic among the people, thus worsening the situation. In this project, we try to automatically detect the rumours spreading on Twitter and identify its source. Using some of the rumoured tweets posted during the London Riots in 2011 and some non-rumoured tweets, we trained a classifier. Our classifier correctly classifies the tweets with high accuracy. We show that, in rumour detection, the information propagated by the user becomes more important than the identity of the user by showing that tweet-based features play a much higher and significant role than user-based features. We propose an algorithm to find the origin of the rumoured tweets i.e. obtain the account information of the user who first started spreading rumours on Twitter.

TL;DR: In this article, experimental results achieved by the use of granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) and cement in stabilizing lithomargic clay for geotechnical applications.
Abstract: Utilizing industrial byproducts in soil stabilization benefits the economic, environmental and social benefits. Granulated blast furnace slag is a byproduct of iron and steel industry having oxides similar to that of cement but in different proportions. This study describes experimental results achieved by the use of granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) and cement in stabilizing lithomargic clay for geotechnical applications. Soil was replaced by GBFS in percentages of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50% and cement of 2, 4, 6, and 8% by dry weight of soil is added. Various experimental studies like specific gravity, Atterberg limits, compaction, UCS, CBR and triaxial compression test, were performed on samples to understand the effect of these mixes on their few index and strength properties. The study also includes an investigation on a combination of optimum percentage of GBFS with varying percentage of cement and lime on their shear parameters. The study result shows significant improvement in the strength properties of the mixes. Hence it can be concluded that lithomargic clay stabilized with GBFS and cement/lime satisfy the strength requisite to be employed in the numerous geotechnical applications.
